Someone needs to please stop me from buying a Sonic Screwdriver - there's a steampunk version too.

Because really, why would I need it. I don't cosplay.

But having one in my possession would make me feel like a total badass.

2. I will give you a letter.
3. Post the names of five fictional characters whose names begin with that letter, and your thoughts on each. The characters can be from books, movies, or TV shows.

[livejournal.com profile] lil_1337 gave me the letter G:

Gregory House from House
. So I'm not sure if I even consider myself a fan because I don't watch it regularly, just catch random episodes here and there. I just really like the medicine aspect of the show. House seems to be like a major jackass with no redeeming values whatsoever and I can't see why anyone would like him except the man is quite gorgeous but that's more Hugh Laurie than House. And then I see episodes where some of his humanity comes through and I realize that the man is not a jackass simply because he wants to be a jackass, it's just that he's honest and brutal and that sometimes doesn't win you over a lot of fans (his and Sue Slyvester 's character from Glee are quite similar to each other because she's not my favorite character either but I never know what to feel about her exactly). I guess the simplest way of looking at it is that they're both very complex characters so you can't really hate them or like them without wavering (at least I know I can't, I know they have their fans and to them I say, mazel tov).

Greg Sanders from CSI: Las Vegas.
I've fallen away from this show, and I did get interested rather late so the catch-up has been slow and mostly focused on watching only episodes with my favorite characters (which mostly consist of minor characters and the "Lab Rats", although that's not to say I don't like all the major characters either). But now the show is like in its 12th season, and I feel like some much of the show has changed (naturally...as it has been like eleven years it's been on the air) that I can't really get into it with all the excitement that I kinda sorta had since its sixth season. But anyways, Greg's character is awesome and who I fell in love with right away. Greg started out as the quirky lab technician with the wild hair and the colorful shirts, but then he developed and matured into a geeky, cool, sexy guy, less with the colorful shirts and wild hair (which I miss) but his character is still so very awesome.

Grumpy from Once Upon a Time
. Admittedly, when you think about the seven dwarves, you don't think of them as individuals but more as a collective, but with OUAT (as it does with every aspect of fairy tales), it develops the characters more deeply than the original versions do (and I'm glad to see this trend continue in other media, if the trailer for Mirror, Mirror with Lily Collins and Julia Roberts is anything to go by - them dwarves there look like they're very much individuals and not part of a set). Grumpy seems to be an honorable dude who believes in true love and takes the good with the bad. But my favorite dwarf will always be Dopey.

Burton "Gus" Guster from Psych
. Oh Gus. The ways in which I love you are innumerable. I know he's playing the straight-man to Shawn's comedic role, but I love that he's anal and so smart and so loyal. I don't understand why he doesn't have to beat people away with a stick, with how very awesome and sexy he is. Seriously.

Geordi La Forge from Star Trek: The Next Generation
. Alright, so I have to admit that my most, most favorite Star Trek series? Totally Voyager. And I feel like I can say this with authority even if I haven't seen the original series or Deep Space Nine or Enterprise or pretty much any other series in the franchise. Which is one of the major reasons why I don't consider myself a "Trekkie" because real fans would love everything in the franchise. But Geordi is awesome. He's nerdy and cool and smart. I love his friendship with Data too. He always does what he has to, even if that means he has to disobey orders, and I think that's partly because his convictions are strong and he's just an all-around admirable character.

some honorable mentions:

Galia the Orion girl from Star Trek (2009). So she's only at the very beginning and shows up briefly toward the middle of the movie when the characters go off on their separate ships to go to Vulcan, but she was very pretty and very perky and you could see that she was meant to be the total opposite of Uhura even if her character wasn't totally developed. I dunno. I just liked the little that we saw of her. She was kinda quirky.

George Kirk from, again, Star Trek (2009). He was only in the movie for 15 minutes and then [SPOILER] and...but I just really love him okay. Also apparently that was Chris Hemsworth playing him?
dahlia_moon: (Psych- ShawnxLassiter)
OK, people, should I bother watching the rest of S5 of Doctor Who? I've only seen the first eppy. I dunno. There's so much tv I have to catch up on and the only character I really care about is Rory - who is a minor character, I think, and therefore probably doesn't get as much screen time as Amy and the Doctor (and I hear something happens to him later on?). The thing is this season of Doctor Who doesn't feel *like* Doctor Who to me. (Or maybe I'm still sad about Tennant leaving and RTD leaving and want to boycott this season because I loved Tennant and want him back. *cries* I WANT HIM BACKKKKKKKKKKKK!)

Bahhh. Stupid show. I want to see it but I don't want to at the same time. Very conflicted.

(Also - spoilers WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Yes. Not a spoilerphobe concerning this season.)

I'm sleep deprived today. :(

Fourth Who, New Sarah Due

SCI FI Channel has acquired the fourth season of Doctor Who and its hit spinoff series The Sarah Jane Adventures from BBC Worldwide America. Both series are slated to premiere on SCI FI in April.

The Sarah Jane Adventures
is written and produced by the same creative team behind Doctor Who, including multiple-award-winning writer Russell T. Davies. The series centers on Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen), former companion to the Doctor, who investigates offbeat mysteries with her young friends Maria, Luke and Clyde.

The fourth season of Doctor Who, meanwhile, brings back star David Tennant as the 10th Time Lord, joined by a new companion, Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), who reprises her role from the previous Christmas special. The Doctor's previous companion, Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), also makes a triumphant return in the middle of season four.

Six Drabbles )
dahlia_moon: (Satoshi)
My life is so boring. Seriously nothing happens to me. It's like you all have fantastically drama-filled lives that keep you on your toes...and I, well, I live in a bubble. A semi-kind of bubble, truly. I don't really know anything outside of my home and family. (Well- I'm lying, high school is catching me up with all the woes and ways of life).

I know. I'm asking for drama. How weird is that? You know, I said this to my friend once on IM, that I wanted more drama in my life. And she was like, no you don't. Drama isn't pretty. And well, I guess it isn't, but I've never experienced it (or maybe I just haven't recognized it as being drama), and how can you know what something is if you've never experienced it?

I don't know why I'm harping on my good fortunes. I can never just be happy, even if I have all the reason in the world to be happy. I am very, very fortunate compared to other people (not wealth-fortunate, mind you; that is another matter entirely).

I'm just bored with life in general, I guess. I don't know where I'm going, but it's like I'm nowhere now either, if that makes any sense. My life just revolves around school and family now and that's all I know- which doesn't seem like much, but that is my world right now.

****

But enough about that cos' I honestly don't even know what I'm talking about, so why even bother honestly.

Can't anyone tell me who sings that 'Pour some sugar on me/Oooh, in the name of love' song? Cos' I've been hearing it on the radio a lot lately and it's bugging me that I don't know who sings it!

It's a very catchy song. :P

Some random thoughts on Torchwood & Doctor Who: Spoilers for 1x04: Cyberwoman (TW) and 3x13: Last of the Time Lords (DW) )

I just saw this tonight.

But...but the three specials won't be until 2009! And we'll probably not get it until 2010. I'll be in college by then...

Oh, this fandom is so torturous.

Deja vu?

So, the computer is giving me heartbreaks once again. I swear it's more temperamental than I am sometimes. It's not too bad though: the mouse is just not working for some reason. Something about a 'USB malfunction.' I've tried disconnecting the mouse and then reconnecting it again and then connecting another old one from my brother's laptop, but nothing. It's so irritating because technically everything works, but you can't click on anything. (Well you can- if you keep hitting the tab key and enter, but that gets bothersome after a while.) (Am using brother's computer to write this up.) Uuughhh, it's so frustrating; if it doesn't freeze up, it has to totally go bonkers on me.

So, we're gonna have to buy a new mouse and hopefully it'll work? (Which is frustrating in itself because money's been tight lately and I don't want to waste my money on a mouse, but it looks as though we won't have any choice.)

The good news is there are only two more episodes until the season finale of Doctor Who (well it's not really good news, but I am very excited because the episodes look freakin' awesome and I'm looking forward to the Doctor's new companion in season four; I loved her in  The Runaway Bride special and I think she'll be better than Martha).

I updated/changed my profile tonight. Honestly, the html was driving me nutso and I had to squint to read anything (that was my fault- the hex codes weren't cooperating). So I discarded it completely. I like it this way: black & white is always the way to go.

So, that this post isn't completely useless, I bring some good fanart recs (well- what I consider good fanart).

Spirited Away
[Haku/Chihiro] Promise by arriku: This pic has bland colors and makes you feel serene. I really like her Chihiro and Haku; they look very real (animation-real that is).

Bleach
[Ishida] White Knight by orin: Wow. That's all I can say about this fanart. I really like the colors here and his expression.

Cowboy Bebop
[Spike] Spike by TheCapatin: This fanart is really a simple picture of Spike, but it's nice to look at and Spike's expression seems really content and it's just...nice.

Sailor Moon
[Sailor Chibi Moon/ChibiUsa] Sailor Chibi Moon by Ayvens: I especially like the colors here. They make the pic real and alive and it just goes so well. I also think her anatomy of the drawing is pretty good.

Ever After
[Danielle/Henry] Ever After by Terrauh: I really like that this was done in pencil because it makes it look majestic and the black really gives the drawing fullness.

Doctor Who
[Ten/Rose] Lists by SarcasticFox: I just love this because I'm a pure Ten/Rose fan. It's so cute & like a short, funny comic. I love sketches because they're rough. ~♥♥♥

Twilight
[Edward/Bella, Alice] Twilight Collage by vintagepixie5: Ha, what Alice probably sees happening in Twilight. I also liked how the author also left the faces blank- it's more classy and artsy to me.

[Edward, Emmett, Alice] Edward doesn't like rap by SimplyDelightfulx: Omg, this was hilarious! Emmett thinks that he can get Edward to like rap, even when Alice tells him that he won't. Emmett, you shouldn't bet against Alice.

[Edward, Emmett, Jasper, Alice] Jasper has an idea by SimplyDelightfulx: Another funny comic from the author above. The Cullens are totally not canon, but you can't help but love this. Jasper tries to beat Emmett at arm-wrestling by cheating. Read to find out how. ^^

I'm so happy. This is the best Doctor Who news ever!

New Companion for Season 4

I love her.
dahlia_moon: (Love Hina)
Nothing too exciting happening here. PSAT's are coming on Oct.18. Gotta study for that and I have two labs I have to do for Bio. All of my other classes are pretty easy. Just homework that doesn't take too long to do, thank godness.

Before I forget to ask, does anyone know where to download bittorrent software? I browsed around download.com, but for some reason my server wouldn't let me download it. It sent me to a 'third party download site'. But then that still didn't work. I was just wondering if there was anywhere else to download it. If not, I guess I'll just have to keep trying.

It's amazing how far technology has come over the years, and yet it still doesn't always work; I guess nothing really can be perfect.
