= Only got up to episode 23 of Power Rangers S.P.D. before I suddenly started watching Samurai Sentai Shinkenger i.e. the Japanese version of Power Rangers Samurai. (Hopefully more coherent thoughts on S.P.D. as a whole after I finish it to follow. I know I should've seen it before watching Samurai because the whole time I was watching SPD, I was imagining Mentor Ji had suddenly gone evil and it messed with my mind.) HOLLLLY MACKEREL IT'S SO AWESOME it's about ten times more awesomer than Samurai, sorry sorry. But in Samurai, there are nagging questions like "but! how did the samurai end up in a California-esque place?!!" (I know it's called "Panorama City" but that doesn't mean anything really.) "Why is Jayden's last name Shiba??" "And WHY IS A WHITE GUY LEADING A TEAM OF POC??" Except for these nagging questions, Shinkenger is basically the same show though but somehow more awesome???? IDK why do american shows suck so much?

Having said all that though, I still love Samurai, but now I feel like any one of them could've played Jayden and that it didn't have to actually be Alex Heartman. I heart Alex Heartman and his boyish good looks as much as the next fangirl, and it does feel strange to imagine anyone else in the role, but after seeing the Japanese version, I feel like it'd at least solve the problematic racial aspect of the show. It's just a thought experiment.

= Before becoming obsessed with Shinkenger out of nowhere, I also caught about five random episodes of Gogo Sentai Boukenger (because of a fic obviously) and liked it as well. After Shinkenger, I'll start watching it properly in order. (Only got through two episodes of Operation Overdrive, the Americanized version of Boukenger--well, an episode and a half--before I started wondering if there was another PR series I could marathon already. Sigh. Maybe after I've watched all the interesting Super Sentai shows, I'll come back to OO. ngl, I just want to come to that epic episode where Adam comes back and they team up with Tori, Xander, Kira, and Bridge because they're all my favorites.)

= I also signed up for PR Femslash Ficathon 2014 because I love both things immensely though I haven't really written any PR femslash before now. The letter for it might show up here soon because, while signing up I started to ramble and ramble and was like, maybe people wouldn't like to actually read such long ramblings on the sign up page?? despite the long ramblings for some of requests I had chosen, I had a hard time coming up with prompts because I literally like everything so my impulse is to just write to have fun, but I realize that is also super unhelpful so I endeavored to come up with random prompts. Coming up with prompts is sooooo hard though.

+ The correct order Almost Human should be watched. Sigh. The current episode of Enlisted also didn't make any sense regarding two characters and people have theorized that that its episodes are airing out of order as well, no they're def. out of order. (Have been seeing around the 'net that the correct order ep is: Pilot,5,2,9,1,4,3,6.) To the surprise of no one, Enlisted is also a Fox show. Why do you have to make things so confusing, Fox??

+ 10 Things You Didn't Know About The "How I Met Your Mother" Series Finale. It's mostly a silly list that made me laugh out loud. I loved #3 in particular: Someone finally points out that I don't sound like Bob Saget.

+ And a deleted scene of Parker Young from Enlisted and his cute butt. Obviously, it's NSFW. But, god, I knew there was a reason I loved this show right from the get-go. #shamelessobjectification #thatshowiroll

And I found some gin hidden in the pantry, but as I've already become aware, I hate the taste of alcohol so have just mixed in a tiny sip of gin and a full glass of water enough so that the flavor of the water is sweet but this way I won't get drunk. Parents aren't big drinkers either which is why there's only gin and whiskey in the house, mostly for company that comes by unexpectedly and parents haven't had time to shop for the "nicer" wine, but gin and whiskey is so hardcore, and I'm afraid even only a full shot will make me light-headed. I suspect I won't like beer either. #experimenting #onesipatatime

The fandom snowflake challenge will resume! Um...sometime-ish soon? Hopefully. Maybe. Most likely.

But, meanwhile, some new tee-vee!

What TV shows did you start watching in 2013?
Almost Human, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Sleepy Hollow, Haven, started properly watching Hawaii Five-0 from the first season, Star Trek the Original Series, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Power Rangers R.P.M, Power Rangers Jungle Fury, Power Rangers Samurai, Go On, Jeeves & Wooster, and Green Lantern the Animated Series.

What TV show did you let go of in 2013?
Once Upon a Time and The Vampire Diaries. The former because I don't really much care for the Peter Pan story arc--but I might have to get back into it solely for Ariel and Tinkerbell (who's being played by a former Power Ranger!!! And one of my favorites!!! eeeee!!!) and if they ever officially make Mulan/Aurora A Thing. The latter because I've gotten sick of it; it's declined in quality--not that it was ever anything more than a high school soap opera but the mysteries and world-building and twists kept it pretty balanced.

Which TV show did you mean to get into in 2013 but didn't? Why?
Possibly One Tree Hill--got up to almost finishing s3 on my proper watch before I stopped because I didn't have Netflix anymore but now I have it again so I have no idea why I didn't get back into it. Well, actually the why is that there was no time and SO MUCH OTHER SHOWS TO WATCH. And Legend of Korra (I um I only got six episodes in before I stopped for some reason? And never started up again?)

What TV show do you intend to check out in 2014?
Hmm, maybe Nikita? I've been meaning to check out that show forever who remembers that 90's La Femme Nikita show? no? just me? carry on then.
Reign? Though I did catch a couple of scenes and it looks interesting mainly because it features a female lead but the triangle would probably turn me off. Witches of East Wick. And How I Met Your Mother (from the beginning). Oh and Scandal. Orphan Black. Orange is the New Black. Veep. Husbands. Legend of the Seeker. Helix, if only to try it out but it might border too much on the "horror" scale for me (but Billy Campbell!). Arrow. Chuck. Maybe get into Supernatural again. Merlin. White Collar. Fringe. Lost Girl. Prison Break. Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Killer Women. And my Netflix keeps recommending I watch The Elephant Princess.

What TV show impressed you least in 2013?
So far--Beauty and the Beast.

What show did you enjoy most in 2013?
I enjoy pretty much all the media I consume (even sometimes problematic things that make me angry which is kinda weird). That being said, here's a short list: Parks and Rec, Castle, Psych, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Eureka, Elementary, Sleepy Hollow, Almost Human, Warehouse 13, and Go On.

- Bold all of the following TV shows of which you've seen 3 or more episodes.
- Italicize a show if you're positive you've seen every episode.
- Asterisk * if you have at least one full season on tape, DVD, or blu ray.
- If you want, add up to 3 additional shows (keep the list in alphabetical order).

Sigh. I've become obsessed with a new show–Sleepy Hollow. I will tell you I wanted to watch it because:
a) damn, do I love the legend
b) it looked like it had awesome characters (John Cho! You were the deciding factor in me watching it now instead of waiting until forever but...I'm so conflicted about your character. Do I hate you? Do I sympathize with you? I don't know what I'm feeling. Someone tell me. I want to hate him but then I also hope there's more to the character's back-story than that he was feeling like being a henchman for demonic forces.)
c) Ichabod Crane is hot.
d) Actually, the whole cast is hot.

just look at these two adorkable dorks:

(Besides Sleepy Hollow, Castle, Haven and s1 of Hawaii Five-0 are about as much TV as I can take this season.)

Haven

I've been binging on Haven where I've literally been just taking in as much as I can and ignoring everything else (even other social media sites I'm on) since about last Wednesday (the 10th). This was also due in part to having the worst earache I've ever had the displeasure to suffer through and where, as a result, I hadn't been able to sleep all that much--not for lack of trying, but I'd get into bed and all I could focus was on the excruciating pain, and maybe if I didn't lie on my side I could probably fall asleep just to have to get up in a few hours.

I got the earache trying to jam a Q-tip into my ear five days after my trip to the lake where I got some water in my ear unfortunately, but I thought the water was gone by that point! But it wasn't! I just made it worse somehow when I used the Q-tip and dislodged some dormant water or something because I did get that insane sensation like when your ears haven't popped, and I did feel like some water was sloshing around in there. The relief--pure relief--only came when I got the bright idea to put a hot towel on my ear to ease some of the soreness that I probably caused with the Q-tip--no matter how gently I thought I used the damned thing--but I wasn't so hopeful on the dislodging of water from my ear, and I was right. -_- Still feel like my left ear is full of water (and ugh, at one point, I was also scared that my ear was filled with sand as well because the lake floor is all sand and when you try to do handstands on the bottom of the lake with your legs kicking in the air, some sand is wont to get lodged somewhere uncomfortable and unwanted; this is probably not a good idea at all, doing the handstands and other crazy moves I mean, hence the uncomfortable water in ear almost a week and a half later), but I no longer want to chop off my ear to ease the aching pain, so...win, I guess?

BUT! Let's go back to talking about more fun things so--Haven!

◄ I've been engrossed in reading Not Always Romantic just because a fic linked to it. Man, some of these stories. Just. Wow.

♥ I will always pimp this show, so if you've wanted to watch Chicago Fire, all episodes are up online until it comes back on January 31 here. (Also, alternatively, on hulu).

◄ Speaking of pimping shows, Suits also comes back on January 17! Also was trying to find good fanvids for the show on YT, and stumbled upon these Suits Recruits mini-episodes that I think were produced just for the fans? (HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! I hope they end up on the DVDs.) My favorite is the Firing Norma one. Harold, you and your curly blond head are my favorite.

Another favorite is the Quote for Quote. HARVEY SPECTER QUOTES THE PRINCESS BRIDE. WHOOOOOOOOOOPPP.

There is a whole bunch of them here and I'd highly recommend viewing them - if you're a fan or just aren't sure if you want to watch the show, it's great for dipping your toes in.

Steadily making my way through my massive dorama list. I don't really know anything about Secret Garden except it's got some body-switching shenanigans. And that is enough to intrigue me.

But I'm apparently also staying for the characters.

And because it's such a pretty show. And I'm really in love with the theme song.

I'm sorry I haven't been very active on here; school is making me so insane and on the verge of always being one step away from a nervous breakdown. But I can't afford any nervous breakdowns because that would require me taking a break from my life and that's not...possible at the moment.

But that's depressing so let's talk about some happy things:

I've also been tuning in to Castle and Once Upon a Time. I don't have much to say about either of them except Castle is not holding my attention all that much lately. (I don't think it's quite jumped the shark and I *LOVE* that Beckett and Castle are together...but I'm just not sure about some of the execution of the Beckett and Castle togetherness - if that makes any sense at all.) But I am loving Once Upon a Time.
dahlia_moon: (Default)
I'm catching up on Castle on my break (have just s3 to go and then I'll all be caught up for s5 come September. yessss! finally. then it'll be time to catch up on other tv shows and foreign dramas. SERIOUSLY. SO. MUCH. TV. SO LITTLE TIME.) And also, sporadically, catching up on movies too.

Tonight (well this morning - it's late/early here), I finally watched Sherlock Holmes for the first time.

Just a quick review (no spoilers, just pretty general comments) -

HOLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYY

U GUISEEE

THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE.

I mean, I knew it would be. I remember seeing the trailers and absolutely getting the sense that this would be a fun film to watch but I TOTALLY DID NOT KNOW HOW MUCH OF AN AWESOMELYTASTIC FUN MOVIE IT WAS. (No, awesomelytastic is totally a word, shuddup.)

I really thought I'd love just Sherlock and John here, but the love I now carry for Irene Adler did come out of left field and left me surprised in a good way. Have I raved here how very much I love Rachel McAdams? Because I do. I think she's an awesome actress.

The ending was awesome too, left it at just the right place to make you as the viewer feel satisfied but also to seque nicely into the sequel.

I think that's just all I have to say? The movie, overall, was just freakin' fantastic and I loved every minute of it and was not bored and did not pause at all for long periods of time like I do for the vast majority of movies I watch by myself.

Am still in denial that I've turned twenty-one. Not to make any one here feel older but this is old enough, okay? stop aging self.

There was some wine-tasting. It was as horrible as I thought it might be. And a Pushing Daisies marathon that left me wanting more. :/ Damn it, show. You ended with even more questions than you started with. (I wanted more story lines about Ned's father; he clearly knows about his son but where has he been these past twenty years of his son's life?!)

And writing. Wrote some more on that Young Justice story.

and I screen-capped the story lines I wrote out on Twitter so I can have them for later (read from bottom up):

On the academic front, I only have to show up for one final on Tuesday for the poetry class. Of course that means I have one English essay and one Philosophy essay to hand in before semester's end next Friday and of course I haven't started either essay. Thankfully no Biology lab and creative writing final.

"My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun" (Sonnet 130)
William Shakespeare

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

• HOLYYYYYYYY - DID EVERYONE SEE THIS? EVERYONE GO SEE THISSSSSS!! The Legend of Korra official opening titles Man, I got *chills* watching this.

[livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo is over. I definitely did better than last year, even though I missed some days this time around as well. But I wrote over 6,587 which is a lot more than I have written for a single story, I can tell you that much. And I got these cool banners:

(Next year, I'm totally going for the banners that say, "I wrote every day and met my word goal," and "I wrote every day." Because, dammnit, I want both banners!)
