2. Any recs for some awesome podcasts/radio programmes like Welcome to Night Vale or BBC's production of Neverwhere. Despite not being an auditory person at all, if it has a good story, I will so be there.
3. This feels like asking for too much, but art for any of my stories? Ah, maybe someday someone, somewhere, will be inspired to draw something based on what I wrote.
In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Also, for those of you new around here, I'm Serbian Orthodox, and we do celebrate Christmas in January (7th-9th of this year) so I definitely want to say thank you again because you've made this (mostly nonpracticing) Orthodox girl's Christmas the best. I appreciate it so much.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge 2014 - Day 7
Jan. 7th, 2014 11:59 pm(Going back to school next week for my last semester as an undergraduate. I'm kinda sad we only got a three-week break this time around. Usually, it's a month. What happened to that, school? Huh??? I'd like to be able to go to graduate school, but that's more of a "someday" for now--my parents are on pins & needles enough as it is for me to graduate and get a job already. I know what most of you are thinking: my parents do not have to live my life for me so if I want to go to graduate school, I should be able to, but yeah, no. It's a bit more complicated then that at the moment. My parents are the practical, wise folks while I'm off with my head in the clouds dreaming of reading poetry all day long, or getting a BA in English, it amounts to the same thing for them in the end.)

So I started writing this piece of meta a long time ago, and then it just languished in my drafts folder, uncompleted for the longest time. I don't even remember now what prompted me to write it in the first place? LOL, A+ self. But I wanted to finish it up finally, and publish it somewhere, even if I still have no idea how to write meta. Or if this really is meta. And then this challenge came along, and it's forcing me to finally complete it and spruce it up for public consumption. Anyways, have some Louis Litt feels and thoughts. (I really didn't foresee loving him as much as I do all the other main characters, but I do. Also, though I'm up to s3, this only takes into account seasons 1-2.)

See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser-known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom who maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

(It was mighty hard just listing three items as I tend to love pretty much all of the communities I join either on LJ/DW or on tumblr/twitter--otherwise I'd delete them from my reading pages, but these are just some of the more exceptional ones.)
1.halfamoon: hey it's a community that celebrates women! I do love that this is low-pressure and though I haven't participated myself, I mostly love lurking around and oohhhing-and-ahhhing at other people's posts.

smallfandomfest: I tend to pretty much want to be in fandom for everything I consume in media (to varying degrees, of course, and some fandoms end up being more like one-time fandoms), except the problem with that is I sometimes find myself obsessed with really small fandoms. This community helps in seeing what's out there fannishly. (And I know there's the word "fest" in the title but people can post fanworks in small fandoms all year round, I believe.)
3.poetry: for all your poetry needs! I love that it's active and has so much poetry.

wheeeeeeeee! i got a story!!
Sep. 8th, 2013 11:40 pmTroublesfest is live! Well, the actual-getting-to-read-the-stories portion at any rate. The author reveal will happen a week from today. Oh gosh, I have to wait that long to find out who wrote me this very awesometastic story?! It doesn't seem fair.
Otoh, I think my own giftee will hate their story because my own attempt was so very bad. -_- Why do I have to suck at writing? I liked the premise of it, and the summary came to me before the whole fic did, which never happens so it was surprising and I thought it'd make the fic easier to write (oh how very wrong I was). Also, having the summary before I had the fic written out made it easier to see where the fic wanted to go, but harder to *actually* get it there, and the summary changed from draft to final product.
I wonder if anyone will (correctly) guess what I wrote?

The Cogans are actually an intriguing pair of characters! Like we're all supposed to like Audrey and Nathan and Duke and I do, but it's a freakin' surprise how much I love James considering how little we saw of him.

Ah, I have one other Haven story I'm been working on for one of mytrope_bingo cards, but the Duke/Nathan sex is just not wanting to happen right now. WHYYYYYY 2026 words is enough of the angst and development.

I'm not too fannish where Once Upon a Time is considered for some strange reason (well that's not quite true - the reason is that the canon source is pretty awesome in of it self and I don't have to indulge quite as much in fannish works except for Belle/Rumples fic and a random end-of-series re-imaginings that I stumble upon).

Dear Writers of Eureka:
GODDAMN IT STOP IT. Seriously. I don't mind love triangles usually - Pushing Daisies did it in a really tasteful way where I felt really sad for Olive carrying the torch for Ned when he was really in love with Chuck, and it never made me think, 'god just get the love triangle out of the way already,' but here I am thinking that for Eureka. I guess for Pushing Daisies it really worked because Olive was so sure of herself and her love for Ned even though it left her with a broken heart more often than not.
There are love triangles all over the place nowadays. But you know what's NOT okay? Jerking us Jo/Zane shippers around while Jo/Carter is getting hinted at in every corner and turn. Seriously. It might be one-sided but that doesn't make it any less heart-crushing (and add to that Zane's rightful insecurity with Jo not wanting to define their relationship or commit fully).
I'd be more okay with it if Jo wasn't stringing Zane around while she's thinking about being with Carter. And Carter has Allison now (HE FREAKING PROPOSED TO HER HE'S RAISING HER KIDS WITH HER). Ugh, angst can be found in other plot lines.
I have no problem with Jo/Carter being a possibility but not when Jo is doing this friends-with-benefits thing with Zane where it's pretty obvious that this relationship means more to him than to Jo. And hasn't Jo (and Zane indirectly) already been brokenhearted way too many times already (especially when you guys decided to screw with their lives and not return them to their original time-lines when they time-traveled to 1947)?
You know what hurts worse? That Jo is sincere when Zane talks about his insecurity about their relationship, considering that in his fake reality Jo and Carter were together when they thought he and the rest of the crew died in space. That Jo keeps telling him he's the only one she wants to be with when she's going back and forth about their relationship and what they mean to each other and when she keeps glancing in Carter's direction whenever they're all together, that just keeps adding to the disappointment. I don't care if you decide that Jo should be with Carter in the end, but the show is in its final season and this getting jerked around is probably what real heartbreak feels like (I've never been in love so I wouldn't know but I am falling in love with these two characters together and it feels like y'all are ending something great but being ambiguous and wishy-washy about it - which I don't appreciate, btw. Either end Jo/Zane for real, or go all the way with their relationship, just for the love of all things sane, PLEASE CHOOSE ONE. No this in-between limbo.
Seriously, it's heartbreaking and I'd just like it to stop, please.

GODDAMN IT STOP IT. Seriously. I don't mind love triangles usually - Pushing Daisies did it in a really tasteful way where I felt really sad for Olive carrying the torch for Ned when he was really in love with Chuck, and it never made me think, 'god just get the love triangle out of the way already,' but here I am thinking that for Eureka. I guess for Pushing Daisies it really worked because Olive was so sure of herself and her love for Ned even though it left her with a broken heart more often than not.
There are love triangles all over the place nowadays. But you know what's NOT okay? Jerking us Jo/Zane shippers around while Jo/Carter is getting hinted at in every corner and turn. Seriously. It might be one-sided but that doesn't make it any less heart-crushing (and add to that Zane's rightful insecurity with Jo not wanting to define their relationship or commit fully).
I'd be more okay with it if Jo wasn't stringing Zane around while she's thinking about being with Carter. And Carter has Allison now (HE FREAKING PROPOSED TO HER HE'S RAISING HER KIDS WITH HER). Ugh, angst can be found in other plot lines.

1. CHLOE SULLIVAN-QUEEN (from Smallville)
Chloe was definitely a major reason why I got into Smallville only when it *ended* (because The New Adventures of Lois and Clark will forever and *always* remain my first beloved Superman show and I want nothing to take its place, but Smallville might up up there with it as my fave show about Superman/Clark). She's just so AWESOME AND BAMF AND I JUST WANT TO BE LIKE HER AND I WANT HER TO BE REAL DAMN IT WHY ISN'T SHE REAL *SOBBBING*
2. ZUKO (from Avatar: the Last Airbender)
I can't articulate very well why I love Zuko except to say that I love his journey in AtLA; I love what kind of a person he becomes by the end, how very complex his character was. (I didn't like him very much at the beginning but mid-s2 or something like that, I found myself becoming very sympathetic to him and by s3 I was completely smitten by him.)
3. BURTON GUSTER (from Psych)
I can't explain my love for Gus without descending into a squealing mass of incoherence and blubbering. I just - he's AWESOME. OK? Trust me, if you hate Gus, then there is seriously something wrong with you.
4. MYKA BERING (from Warehouse 13)
I think while I've talked about loving EVERY FREAKING CHARACTER that comes through WH13, the one character that I *both* adore to pieces and find myself relating to the most is Myka. And we all like seeing ourselves in fictional characters.
5. STEFAN SALVATORE (from The Vampire Diaries)
This show is...ridiculous at times. In good and bad ways. And I have a lot of ~feelings about it. But the one thing I will always know is that Stefan Salvatore is VERY AWESOME AND MY FAVORITEST (with Damon and Caroline and Bonnie and Elena and Jeremy and Rebekah and Tyler as my other favorites).
