Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 6

(No, the date at the top is correct--I skipped days 4 & 5 because I wasn't comfortable doing them at /all/. I have different comfort levels than most people, I've found. But the fun shall resume! For day anyway.)
Let's see, something that impacted me?? BOOKS. It's a general category, I acknowledge, but it's influenced me in major ways. I did not like reading at all when I was wee. I can remember the book(s) that turned me into a bibliophile clearly to this day--The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner. I can't remember which number in the series it was--there are well over 100+ books in the series--but I can remember that I was so captivated by them. I'm sure there have been other books that I loved/had read to me that fascinated me at the time but none had stayed with me for as long as The Boxcar Children books did.
My tastes have turned toward other genres, have picked up more mature ones along the way, but my first love will always be mysteries.
Someday, I will actually make my way over to The Boxcar Children museum too. Did you know there was a museum? I didn't, until recently.

In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Date: 2014-01-08 05:17 am (UTC)See, you were someone I had seen in the PR fandom a lot while I lurked (primarily on Ao3), but I couldn't gather up the courage to friend you on here. That's what that note up there at the top explaining why I missed days 4&5 were about.
I had seen day 4 and then I seized up in over-thinking things and I couldn't actually make myself go talk to anyone or friend anyone--and there are a lot of fandom folk who I kinda politely stalk online because I find them awesome people but I convince myself that somehow me friending them on other social media would be "bothering" them or something silly.
But I love getting friended! So that was me basically being frustrated at myself that I couldn't be as courageous as some people (like you! I do absolutely love your PR fics and maybe if I were braver, we'd have been on each other's reading lists a lot sooner).
