I am somewhat oddly proud of this fic? Because the first several attempts at it (at both the Reichenbach interpretation and the crossover) did not go over too well. I did not cry writing it because, of course, Sherlock is not dead. Joan (along with everybody else) just thinks he is.

I am not at all caught up with Elementary though and I got spoiled on some of the episodes looking at Castle/Elementary gifsets on Tumblr (OOOOOOMGGG SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENS TO [CHARACTER] AHHHHH MY PRECIOUS BABBBBBY)

I do have some more plans for this crossover, but we shall see if they materialize.

Troublesfest is live! Well, the actual-getting-to-read-the-stories portion at any rate. The author reveal will happen a week from today. Oh gosh, I have to wait that long to find out who wrote me this very awesometastic story?! It doesn't seem fair.

Otoh, I think my own giftee will hate their story because my own attempt was so very bad. -_- Why do I have to suck at writing? I liked the premise of it, and the summary came to me before the whole fic did, which never happens so it was surprising and I thought it'd make the fic easier to write (oh how very wrong I was). Also, having the summary before I had the fic written out made it easier to see where the fic wanted to go, but harder to *actually* get it there, and the summary changed from draft to final product.

I wonder if anyone will (correctly) guess what I wrote?

So what I've learned is that writing porn gets me over my writer's block (that Ouat/Pushing Daisies gen story was something I've been ruminating about for a while now and as such is an outlier). I don't know if this will always work, but seems to be doing the trick so far.

Omg, this thing is finally posted! I'd been working on it since I signed up for cottoncandy_bingo in August. It's a short piece, but I had no idea where I was going with it so 'm glad that it finally took a cohesive shape even if nothing much happens, but is more of a slice-of-life piece.

Watching Chicago Fire has been so good for my muse. I actually feel inspired and stuff...and it'd be so awesome if I didn't have school assignments that needed my attention. I have been battling the urge to not do anything but spend hours upon hours going through all the Chicago Fire stuff on tumblr (there's not a lot) and writing for it. (There's not a lot of fic either - only six so far on Ao3 and one of those six is mine and I don't want to read my own drivel.)

Also writing what I think constitutes as my first hurt/comfort story in the fandom. The question of where to lead the story has suddenly cropped up though. Should I totally leave it as a kind of gen piece with implied lovey-dovey stuff? Or should I just have the two main characters of the fic jump into bed already? Because having it be a gen piece would be more true for the characters (so far in canon), but I've already ignored the canon so having it be a sexual story is something I'd /want/ specifically, no matter how out of left field it may be.

Ah, well, I guess I'll just have to see where inspiration leads. If it leads into sexy times for the characters, so be it. I'm not gonna obsess over it (that much).

so this meme asked for the top ten sites that aren't about *books* - comics aren't books though so I'm not really cheating. Right? I don't know. I do my own thing.

1. Tumblr: I feel like tumblr is the amalgamation of EVERY SITE ever on the Internet (and this list). But with more graphics and less annoying changes. I am on there way more than I need to be.
2. iFanboy: where I go for the majority of comics news; they also have nifty top 5 lists too and I can't resist lists (example: Top 5 Deaths of Jonathan Kent).
3. Archive of Our Own: this is the fan fiction site I left Fanfiction.net for (god FF.Net totally irritated me there for a few years with all of their changes and having to post anything new was such a hassle)
4. Comixology: so getting into comics is a bit daunting, getting into digital comics is EVEN more daunting, but I think sites like these facilitate that exchange.
5. Marvel: besides just being a great online encyclopedia of Marvel characters, the blog posts are worth a read as well.
6. DCComics: I really like their Preview Mondays and they've started doing creator profiles that are awesome - full list of creator portraits.
7. Comic Book Resources: while I get most of my comics news from iFanboy a lot of the time, the reason I really like CBR is they have previews of awesome comics that are due out that Wednesday or whatnot (um, I should say I am not all that enamored of its forums and stay away from them - and pretty much anything else with a lot of comments - but they do have awesome reviews and columns and blog posts like 'The Ten Cruelest Things Joss Whedon Has Done To His Characters').
8. Wil Wheaton's blog: so in my obsession-that-came-out-of-nowhere-and-punched-me-in-the-face phase of watching Eureka and seeing Wil Wheaton as the ass-holey Dr. Parrish (...I hope he won't always be cast in tv shows as the jerk character, I really, really hope), I somehow became a fan of his and then made my way over to his blog? Who the hell knows how these things happen. This post was especially awesome. (He also has some posts talking about the comics he's into at the moment which are relevant to me.)
9. Aria's Ink: the truly awesomest Sailor Moon site that's still alive and kicking (you have no idea how many awesome SM sites are long gone). And is SOOO awesome. I am not be as active there as I once was and I kind of feel sad about that, but you sometimes move away from your childhood interests and that's okay.
10. Twitter: gosh, Twitter is like the website that excuses you from talking about yourself nonstop about what you had for lunch; sure it's also practical for following famous people and authors and creators of awesome things, but it's mostly about ourselves, come on, who are we kidding.

So at the beginning of this month, I had said that I wanted to write everyday for  31_days because I want EVEN MORE CHALLENGES (like going to college full-time and working and trying to fit in studying and watching/keeping up with popular culture was not enough of a challenge for me, I have to go ahead and try to challenge myself to write every day too.)

I AM PRETTY MUCH ROCKING THIS CHALLENGE I SET FORTH FOR MYSELF.

There will definitely be a masterlist at the end and everything. Because dammit, after EVERYTHING, a master list will be AWESOME.

The thing is, here we are at day thirteen and I'm already deflated and wanting to just nap and not write. (Not that I'll beg for encouragement or anything because I don't want to seem TOO DESPERATE even though I totally am so very desperate.)
