I'm sorry I haven't been very active on here; school is making me so insane and on the verge of always being one step away from a nervous breakdown. But I can't afford any nervous breakdowns because that would require me taking a break from my life and that's not...possible at the moment.

But that's depressing so let's talk about some happy things:

I've also been tuning in to Castle and Once Upon a Time. I don't have much to say about either of them except Castle is not holding my attention all that much lately. (I don't think it's quite jumped the shark and I *LOVE* that Beckett and Castle are together...but I'm just not sure about some of the execution of the Beckett and Castle togetherness - if that makes any sense at all.) But I am loving Once Upon a Time.

Meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish

so this meme asked for the top ten sites that aren't about *books* - comics aren't books though so I'm not really cheating. Right? I don't know. I do my own thing.

1. Tumblr: I feel like tumblr is the amalgamation of EVERY SITE ever on the Internet (and this list). But with more graphics and less annoying changes. I am on there way more than I need to be.
2. iFanboy: where I go for the majority of comics news; they also have nifty top 5 lists too and I can't resist lists (example: Top 5 Deaths of Jonathan Kent).
3. Archive of Our Own: this is the fan fiction site I left Fanfiction.net for (god FF.Net totally irritated me there for a few years with all of their changes and having to post anything new was such a hassle)
4. Comixology: so getting into comics is a bit daunting, getting into digital comics is EVEN more daunting, but I think sites like these facilitate that exchange.
5. Marvel: besides just being a great online encyclopedia of Marvel characters, the blog posts are worth a read as well.
6. DCComics: I really like their Preview Mondays and they've started doing creator profiles that are awesome - full list of creator portraits.
7. Comic Book Resources: while I get most of my comics news from iFanboy a lot of the time, the reason I really like CBR is they have previews of awesome comics that are due out that Wednesday or whatnot (um, I should say I am not all that enamored of its forums and stay away from them - and pretty much anything else with a lot of comments - but they do have awesome reviews and columns and blog posts like 'The Ten Cruelest Things Joss Whedon Has Done To His Characters').
8. Wil Wheaton's blog: so in my obsession-that-came-out-of-nowhere-and-punched-me-in-the-face phase of watching Eureka and seeing Wil Wheaton as the ass-holey Dr. Parrish (...I hope he won't always be cast in tv shows as the jerk character, I really, really hope), I somehow became a fan of his and then made my way over to his blog? Who the hell knows how these things happen. This post was especially awesome. (He also has some posts talking about the comics he's into at the moment which are relevant to me.)
9. Aria's Ink: the truly awesomest Sailor Moon site that's still alive and kicking (you have no idea how many awesome SM sites are long gone). And is SOOO awesome. I am not be as active there as I once was and I kind of feel sad about that, but you sometimes move away from your childhood interests and that's okay.
10. Twitter: gosh, Twitter is like the website that excuses you from talking about yourself nonstop about what you had for lunch; sure it's also practical for following famous people and authors and creators of awesome things, but it's mostly about ourselves, come on, who are we kidding.

- In news that make me grin cheekily, my brother linked to his tumblr - cirkiss. It's a music blog. He's really gotten into DJing this year and I have no idea what sparked the interest. (Our older brother is very much into electronic and techno music so I guess that's where he gets some of his influence.)

- And I stumbled upon some of Ellen DeGeneres' stand-up comedy videos. I love that lady so much. And these gave me quite a few chuckles so check them out if you want a laugh (or if you basically love Ellen DeGeneres too).

- Also, Bruce Wayne's medical file. It's a thing of beauty.

- And apparently, there's this thing coming in 2012:

I'm only excited about the Teen Titan shorts and I already watch Young Justice, but all the others look kinda...meh. I guess it's because it's not targeted for me specifically. (What's a twenty-year old doing watching cartoons? Don't ask me. I just live in this body.)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I seem to be using both DW and Tumblr for all my episode ramblings. And I really ought to stick with just one to be consistent (I feel like I'm developing dyslexia because I wrote constant but that didn't feel right for some reason except I had no idea what the right word was that I was searching for), but sometimes it feels right to blather on about Psych on Tumblr and sometimes it feels right to blather on here. So I guess I'll use both for now until I've made up my mind one way or the other. (Not that anyone probably cares a great deal what I thought of all these shows I watch but it's awesome for me to get all my thoughts down.)

Also, signed up again this year for Mini NaNoWriMo, with a word count of 150 words for the next thirty days. I thought that was a reasonable, but still somewhat challenging goal. (November is just such a sucky day to commit to writing a novel - at least for me.)

and a meme that's going around:
Come knock on my door by replying to his post with 'trick-or-treat' & I'll respond with a small something -- sentence fic, an icon, a declaration of my love for you, a pic, etc. ♥

♥ Whooooo!! Finished my [livejournal.com profile] pink_stargate entry! The Quest for True Luv (John/Rodney intentional badfic with intentional misspellings and with the caveat that it shouldn't be taken seriously because it was hurriedly written in one day and meant to be bad.)

Now if I could only finish at least one prompt I signed up for smallfandomfest, I'd totally love myself. I desperately wanted to finish all three prompts I picked to write for, but seeing as this round ends in eight days, I'm not holding out much hope. GOSH WHY SO FAIL SELF Ah well, at least I started it - that's half the battle.

♂ So Tumblr has been awesome for finding writing advice that rocks (among other awesome stuff that rocks)! A few links:
Nuts and Bolts: Thought Verbs by Chuck Palahniuk
Kurt Vonnegut's Rules for Writing Reprinted (very general but some pretty important points)
Chuck Palahniuk's 13 Writing Tips (again, more general advice but worth a read)
Writing every day...

Actually, I'd recommend just going through http://writingadvice.tumblr.com and their tags and trying to read everything posted there.

next up: totally finishing up memes awesome people gave me and some thoughts on shows I caught up with this past week and maybe some reviews of awesome comics/books read/to be read. This is what happens when I keep opening up this blog window to write in and keep writing in it for weeks and never hit the post button.

So, um yeah, look who went and joined Tumblr. (And is calling herself "May Child" because she thinks she's being clever.)

It'll mostly consist of me reblogging awesome things I see.

(But I found out you have to pay to use some of the themes. Which is making me all ragey and WTF and stuff. Y' know, Tumblr, I am a poor college student here. And I'm betting that Tumblr's demographics include mostly poor college students. But whatever, I'll just use the free, simple themes.)

I went on a crazy adding spree and added everyone I knew from here, so don't be alarmed, it's just me. -P:
