Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 9

In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) but you ended up loving. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

1. I am for my beloved by [archiveofourown.org profile] lunasky; Generation Kill; Brad/Nate. I am not in the GK fandom, at all, except for sometimes when I am, and I blame this fic. I think it was the first one that made me all curious about this fandom? At any rate, I read this and it made me want to read all the Brad/Nate fics--it was soo good. ~All the feels basically. I still say I'm not in the GK fandom because war stories don't interest me all that particularly, and I sometimes feel disingenuous if I don't consume the original source material but read fic and am fannish to that extent...but I mean if you can visualize the characters and kinda have a basic idea of what the source material is, I think you should get a pass. (And especially if the source material makes you uncomfortable in some way, but the fandom is utterly lovely...It feels very much like a situation between a rock and hard place, imho.)

2. untitled (?) by [livejournal.com profile] fluxy_2535; Star Trek AOS; Kirk/Spock. So this was around the time STXI came out and I hadn't seen the movie yet but I lurked around the kinkmeme and saved all of my favorites to delicious (back when I still used the site...oh those were the days). It's getting recced here because it's...kidfic and I...don't want to say I /hate/ kidfic, but I don't necessarily go out of my way to read a lot of them, y'know? It's an illogical neurosis of mine where even though I write some kidfic myself, I'm very particular about the kind of kidfic I read. But this particular piece, even though it's short, is so very amazing and endearing and cute that, years later, I still find myself thinking about it.

3. The Inner Workings Of Faith by [livejournal.com profile] calicokat; Star Trek AOS; Bones/Chekov. I definitely know this was the fic that made me a Bones/Chekov fan. I don't know how I stumbled upon it, but I'm pretty sure my thought processes went something like this: "huh, Bones/Chekov? that sounds...interesting. *gets to end of fic* YEAHHHHHHH I CAN TOTALLY GET BEHIND THIS SHIP."
