» Actors who I love are continuing to say dismissive and hurtful things: Tyler Posey had this to say about Sterek. Dude, I get being bitter and resentful, but that's crossing a line.*

*I'm still not over that Clark Gregg interview where he insinuated that people giving up on Agents of SHIELD because it didn't feature Thor or Stark or anyone else from The Avengers/Marvel-in-general were "losers".

» Speaking of Marvel, I'm so freaking ecstatic I'm not the only one who'd give up a first-born to see a Runaways movie being made, or the only one still getting up every day and asking myself, is today the day I get my Runaways movie?* Drew Pearce and how Marvel's Runaways are more like The Godfather in tone. I mean both BKV, and Whedon have written for this comic, get on that Marvel people.

*I mean Runaways the comic here--six teenagers with powers who find out their parents are all evil, and run away to forge their own path, not the Dakota Fanning movie about female rockers.

I've been on break for the past week, and I've literally done nothing. /Nothing./ And I'm not misusing the word literally. On the one hand, I feel bad. On the other...fuck it. I don't care. Which is troubling because lately that's been my attitude toward everything.

I also can't believe I'm about to graduate in about three months. HOW DO PEOPLE DEAL??

I'm not ready to be an adult yet. But I also know I can't put it off forever.

Anyway! Psych! The remake episode. Before we got into the commentary, I have to admit I totally don't remember the original episode at all.

Happy Presidents' Day/Normal Monday. I did wonder this morning why we celebrate Presidents' Day and this Washington Post article kinda explains it. (I myself prefer the apostrophe at the end--to be all inclusive and equal.)

And another link: Living on a Maine island during the winter. I actually live on the mainland, but it was an interesting article nonethless. I have only been to Peaks once, but that once was an awesome time.

*

I also have to share what happened yesterday at the mall. My mother and I (after I spent the whole day dreading it and hoping the Apocalypse would come, or a natural disaster or something to get me out of it because I did not want to go) spent a few hours at Macy's trying on dresses for graduation. Ugh. I went through this once five years ago, and I had hoped never to repeat it. But, life, it is so hard. I did find a kinda okay dress, but I didn't buy it because I wasn't all that into it, and I want to come back March or sometime later. (I don't want to go back a second time but I feel like I'm still carrying around a lot of holiday/winter weight that I will hopefully lose when spring comes around.)

Anyway, that is not the story I wanted to tell. After trying on a few dresses, my mother and I went to get chicken teriyaki at the food court and when we were coming back in the direction of Macy's (because that's where we were dropped off and had to return), we saw two guys holding hands. I thought they were extremely cute. My mother? Said they were crazy.

I'm choosing to believe she meant it in a kinda concerned way and not...homophobic way. But there's honestly no way to tell. And I don't want to find out.

So. I feel like I have to apologize not just to every gay or bisexual or asexual person, but to every straight person too. I'm so sorry on behalf of my mother. If it helps, she was born in a village in an European country that's still so far behind the times. It shouldn't excuse her behavior at all, but that's kinda her head space.

I was gonna post all my reactions on Twitter, but then I thought maybe that'd be spoilery, and then I thought, maybe no one would care to get spoiled about Psych if they're not already watching. Ah, anyways, I've decided to post all my reactions on here, just to be on the safe side. Because I really want to get into the spoilery goodness but I also don't want to inadvertently spoil anyone.

Keeping Score (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Phil Coulson/Melinda May, [any], comfort, history, mats, past, warmth)
Untitled (Ever After, Danielle de Barbarac/Prince Henry, chase, diplomacy, garden, haste)
One Track Mind (Hockey RPF, Phil Kessel/Tyler Bozak, size difference)
The Dichotomy of You and Me (Hockey RPF, Phil Kessel/Tyler Bozak, praise)

and fills, not for porn battle XV, but for [community profile] femslash100:

As Inevitable As Anything (Once Upon a Time, Emma/Regina)
Insperatus (Once Upon a Time, Emma/Regina)

All of these are crossposted to Ao3 as well, but I am a lazy butt who is too lazy to provide links right now. (The RPF is locked on Ao3 and I'd appreciate the links not getting crossposted [or--if they have to be--anonym.to/? is your friend] because I still feel kinda skeevy I'm writing RPF. The solution would be to /not/ write any RPF, but I think we can all see how /well/ that is going.)

We'll see if I can get anything more written, but between this cold that is threatening to engulf me and suddenly! papers to write, am not holding out too much hope.

Happy Valentine's Day/Normal Friday or it was when I started writing out this thing.

Hi, fellow [community profile] space_swap enthusiast! First off, I'd like to say thank you for anything you create for me. I've chosen 'other' and 'fanfiction' but I really would love and squee over anything whether it be art, podfic, meta or fanvid. I consume anything fannish to an obsessive degree, the only important thing to me is that you have fun in what you decide to do.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 10

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

1. Icons with John Green quotes (either something he's said or quotes from his books), likewise any Michele Jaffe, or The Alchemist icons. Or really, any icons about books.

2. Any recs for some awesome podcasts/radio programmes like Welcome to Night Vale or BBC's production of Neverwhere. Despite not being an auditory person at all, if it has a good story, I will so be there.

3. This feels like asking for too much, but art for any of my stories? Ah, maybe someday someone, somewhere, will be inspired to draw something based on what I wrote.

3 things!

+ [community profile] fandom_stocking is live! And I got so many awesome shinies! I got a Castle/Sherlock rec, a sweet, fluffy Danny/Steve story, some Steph/Damian recs, [livejournal.com profile] gladdecease wrote me a fantastic Birds of Prey/Elementary fic, a link to Greek Mythology in modern times (sooo cool, esp. all the casting picspams--Amy Adams as Persephone! And Richard Armitage as Hades!! So epic], a coupon for a drabble, an awesome Ichabod/Katrina wallpaper, an awesome ficlet wherein Abbie/Ichabod spend Christmas together, LOOOOTS AND LOOOOOTS of fantastic images of butterflies and dolphins (my top two favorite animals), a lovely piece of fanart of Kate Bishop that I can't stop oogling, two lovely season's greeting cards, [personal profile] punkpinkpower wrote me a Cam/Hunter fic that set my heart all aflutter, and someone else wrote me an amazing Andros/Ashley fic that kept me squeeing. So if any of you like any of the above, definitely check out my stocking. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH AGAIN.

+ I will reply to all of your comments on day eight of the snowflake meme, but for now, I'm pooped on commenting. And feeling so high on awesome emotions. I have to go back to school on Monday, but y'all are making this break so awesome and extra special. Also, for those of you new around here, I'm Serbian Orthodox, and we do celebrate Christmas in January (7th-9th of this year) so I definitely want to say thank you again because you've made this (mostly nonpracticing) Orthodox girl's Christmas the best. I appreciate it so much.

+ As for what I left in people's stocking (did not get to everyone I wanted to):

[personal profile] azarsuerte: Unfailing Optimism [Haven, Audrey/Duke/Nathan/Jennifer]

for [personal profile] boywonder: Be a Good Boy [DCU, Bruce/Tim, Content notes: kinky sex, daddy!kink]

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 9

In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) but you ended up loving. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 8

In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. Surf the comments and find people to give love to.

*screws up her courage*
So, yes, if you feel like saying anything lovely towards me, this would be the place. You will have my undying love and gratitude and I'm pretty sure if you ever in the future need somebody to help you bury a body, I will totally be that person for you.

(Otherwise known as the post, "dahlia_moon hates asking for validation and hugs and love but she will totally reciprocate if ever need be, and besides, she has an excuse for this one time" she is not, however, too shy to refer to herself in the third person; she /loves/ doing that.)
dahlia_moon: (Chlollie - from 10x12 "Collateral")
(Going back to school next week for my last semester as an undergraduate. I'm kinda sad we only got a three-week break this time around. Usually, it's a month. What happened to that, school? Huh??? I'd like to be able to go to graduate school, but that's more of a "someday" for now--my parents are on pins & needles enough as it is for me to graduate and get a job already. I know what most of you are thinking: my parents do not have to live my life for me so if I want to go to graduate school, I should be able to, but yeah, no. It's a bit more complicated then that at the moment. My parents are the practical, wise folks while I'm off with my head in the clouds dreaming of reading poetry all day long, or getting a BA in English, it amounts to the same thing for them in the end.)

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 7

In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So I started writing this piece of meta a long time ago, and then it just languished in my drafts folder, uncompleted for the longest time. I don't even remember now what prompted me to write it in the first place? LOL, A+ self. But I wanted to finish it up finally, and publish it somewhere, even if I still have no idea how to write meta. Or if this really is meta. And then this challenge came along, and it's forcing me to finally complete it and spruce it up for public consumption. Anyways, have some Louis Litt feels and thoughts. (I really didn't foresee loving him as much as I do all the other main characters, but I do. Also, though I'm up to s3, this only takes into account seasons 1-2.)

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 6

In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

(No, the date at the top is correct--I skipped days 4 & 5 because I wasn't comfortable doing them at /all/. I have different comfort levels than most people, I've found. But the fun shall resume! For day anyway.)

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 3

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser-known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom who maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

(This was kinda hard too, as I tend to only read fics on Ao3 nowadays and I find a lot of stuff via recs and lists I find floating around, but I love these three and keep finding myself re-reading them often.)

(My library's facebook page shared this pic but I don't know when it was taken. My Google-fu failed me and I tried going through the digital commons page of the library, but no luck there either. But I still think it's an awesome photo and I can't stop staring at it. I definitely have to research old Portland some more.)

(my layout kinda squishes the image--here's a larger version)

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 2

In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

(It was mighty hard just listing three items as I tend to love pretty much all of the communities I join either on LJ/DW or on tumblr/twitter--otherwise I'd delete them from my reading pages, but these are just some of the more exceptional ones.)

1. [community profile] halfamoon: hey it's a community that celebrates women! I do love that this is low-pressure and though I haven't participated myself, I mostly love lurking around and oohhhing-and-ahhhing at other people's posts.

2. [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest: I tend to pretty much want to be in fandom for everything I consume in media (to varying degrees, of course, and some fandoms end up being more like one-time fandoms), except the problem with that is I sometimes find myself obsessed with really small fandoms. This community helps in seeing what's out there fannishly. (And I know there's the word "fest" in the title but people can post fanworks in small fandoms all year round, I believe.)

3. [community profile] poetry: for all your poetry needs! I love that it's active and has so much poetry.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day One

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
