I had a Shelfari account, which I loved because it displayed all your books on like a javascripted magical bookcase (other book sites don't have that, blah) but now I totally can't log in. *sad, pitiful noise* (Well, I actually can now, but I had to make a new account when I logged in with my Amazon account because, apparently, now you can log into the site with your Amazon account. I'm just really tired of other websites taking over and changing the login requirements. I don't use my Amazon account for anything other than it being a convenient "wish list".) Oh well, not like I'm good at finishing books I start or keeping an online log at these websites.

There's this wonderful article titled "Fandom is Magic" recounting one woman's introduction to fandom. And I'm always up for reading how others discover fandom and what kind of experiences they have - it's just such fascinating stuff. The one big thing I got from the article is that fandom is a safe haven, if you will, for marginalized groups, which I totally agree on, but it makes me wonder. Is that why I love to read and write slash stories? Is it because reading and writing slash fics means I'm somehow "fixing" what seems to be a "predominant heteronormative perspective"? I don't know. I'd just venture to say that it's more about characters and who I love to pair up together with and that romance is very fascinating to me and, compared to other genres, something I want to invest a lot of time reading and writing. (Not that I mean to say I don't like any other genres beside romance, because I do, but some genres speak to me more than others.)

I came across something interesting tonight. It made me think about what kind of writer I am. I generally do write in my comfort zone- as I'm sure most other people do.

Well, this interesting tidbit was about this person writing outside of their comfort zone. And I applaude that. I think it takes some serious guts to go and try to write something one doesn't necessarily write.

The thing with me is that I do not have those serious guts- about anything let alone trying to write things I normally don't. It's sort of ironic because I'll read almost anything (bar anything rated above PG-15, of course), but to actually sit down and write almost everything I read would be, well, quite impossible. And I don't think it's all nervousness that's stopping me either, of course that plays a large part, but it's also the having-no-plotbunny that hinders the writing as well.

But, I firmly believe that with practice, it'll be easier for me to write whatever comes and to not be so censored in what I try to write. Because if I did that, I'd think I'd be a fierce, prolific writer--it'd also probably help if I wasn't so lazy and faffing about the internet most of the time, instead working on my writing. But, eh....

I was watching Naruto tonight (as I always do--major loyal fan) and I think I seriously squee'd over the interactions between Pakkun and Ton-Ton, and if you're not a fan of/familiar with Naruto, Ton-Ton is a pig, and Pakkun is a dog...

...yeah, but seriously, Ton-Ton is such a cute piggy with her white pearls around her neck, and her oink-oinks, and the two cute animals would be so cute together!~~ (Well, if Pakkun can talk...certainly a pig and a dog could be romantic together...)

Happy 4th of July. And also please excuse all the canon inaccuracies- among other things- that will definitely be abound in this fic. I'm only following the anime...and am only up to about episode 100 (not even really >:). Plus, I just wanted to write Hinata/Sasuke-->they're such an interesting couple.

A Naruto drabble.

Ino leans her chin into her hand and sighs, looking at her semi-best friend, Sakura moving around the store, going from one flower to the next and then scowling at the flower.

"What are you doing?" She finally asks, getting annoyed with all the moving and annoyed looks the pink-haired girl gives to the flowers in her shop.

"I'm looking for the perfect flower."

"For whom? Lee already likes the flowers you send him to the hospital."

"They're not for Lee." Sakura looks at one tall stem of a yellow tulip and her face is delighted for a second, but then falls again in disappointment.

Ino looks confused.

"Then who are they for?"

Sakura finally glances up at Ino and gives her a small smile. "They're for someone who's misunderstood and feared in his village. But, I suppose there really isn't a perfect flower for him. It's okay, I'll keep looking. Bye, Ino!" She  waves happily to her friend and walks out of the flowershop.
