For 31_days.....Because I got inspired by today's prompt...which, dude, doesn't happen to me a lot. So, please comment and tell me if I suck, or if I moderately suck. Believe it or not, I thrive on the criticism of others. :D
Title: What I Wouldn't Do For You
Day/Theme: February 20/ the false man
Series: Naruto
Character/Pairing: Naruto/Sakura, one-sided
Rating: G
It was now or never, he thought. He had to do something, and he just wanted her to like him and if that meant pretending to be his rival, then so be it. But, that didn't mean he didn't have a queasy feeling in the pit of his stomach or that somewhere in the dark depths of his mind, his brain wasn't screaming that this wasn't right. That this was just going to tear her up further inside. Was this what he wanted? Bringing back old ghosts for his own selfishness? Could he be that cruel?
He wasn't the cruel one here though, reasoned Naruto. Sakura knew his true feelings for her, and she still hadn't reciprocated. After all that they had been through, she still treated him like her ditzy friend when he longed to be so much more.
Except...except this wasn't about cruelty. It was about his feelings. No matter how true they might've been and no matter if Sakura never learned to love him, this plan of his pretending to be 'Sasuke', was golden in Naruto's eyes. This could give them both what they wanted: Naruto would get Sakura's love and Sakura would get Sasuke back. It was a win-win situation.
Naruto was positive that nothing could go wrong. But then why did he feel like he was preparing for his own funeral?
No matter. Nothing was going to stop him now.
And in case anything went wrong... well, he'd cross that bridge when he came to it. All that mattered now was being what Sakura loved...
