the sunlight that slips

What Changes, My Love
What changes, my love,
is the sunlight that slips
and shutters your smile for the night.
What rages, my love
is the night wind that grips
and slackens your hand on my heart.
What tames me, my love,
is your smile that alights
and raises the roof of the day.
What stays me, my love,
is your hand dripping honey
out of my skinflint heart.
