+ What the hell is "Welcome to Night Vale" and why is it suddenly popping up all the place? I mean, it's all over the place. This is what I asked myself right before I got sucked in. I think it's charming though, from a story-teller's perspective. It reminds me a lot of those older radio programs before the advent of televisions (not, of course, that I was /alive/ during that time but I have heard of them and find them charming as well). Of course, I am not an auditory person at all. I can't actually get through audio books to save my life because my mind wanders if I'm forced to listen to something without text for my eyes to follow along with, so the transcripts are very helpful in this regard. I've found transcripts here and here on tumblr. Sadly, there are no transcripts (yet) for later episodes that I could find, but I remain optimistic.

(Damn it, I didn't want to care about this podcast. I didn't. It's not like I don't have a hundred other fandoms to play in... -_-)

Day Two: Top Five Favorite Books You've Read For School
(Only limiting this to high school/junior high because that's as far as my memory goes, LOL; and if I went into college reading, this list would be never-ending.)
  1. The Great Gatsby (actually analyzing this book is part of what made it a favorite book to read; IDK, usually reading for school is kinda a drag and sucks the fun out of the book for me, but in this case, the reverse happened.)
  2. Angela's Ashes (same goes for this book)
  3. The Grapes of Wrath (and this one)
  4. The Bible (we only got to Genesis of the New Testament in AP English senior year but it was an interesting experience)
  5. Romeo & Juliet (I don't think I'd like Shakespeare or pick him out on my own to read if he weren't compulsory in high school.)

Romeo and Juliet is my least favorite Shakespearean play. Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing and Mid Summer Night's Dream are so much better. Even Hamlet is better.

I do agree that Hamlet and Macbeth are so much better than R+J, it was mainly added to the list because it's the first Shakespeare play I remember reading and liking and paved the way for the others to become my favorites. I haven't read Much Ado About Nothing and Mid-Summer Night's Dream yet, although I've seen high school productions of Mid-Summer Night's Dream and liked what I saw.

I like his comedies better than the tragedies, but that is my general inclination.

Ah, I tend to love the tragedies the most--not just Shakespeare's, but I love Greek tragedies more than the comedies (I have no love for Lysistrata, for example, but love Medea, the Oresteia, and Oedipus). But to each their own. :D
