Fanfic meme

here's an interesting meme I stole from
ssquirrel_fic.
→ What about fanfic in general makes you read it?
Oh, just expanding on the original source material - how so many people can approach a 'ship, character, plot, etc from so many different perspectives. I also like that with fanfic (and other general fannish pursuits) the story never has to end, even if the original source material had ended years and years ago.
→ What theme(s) do you love to read most in fanfic?
Geez, I have no idea how to answer this - there's just too many! I like themes where my 'ships are already established, "curtain fics" I guess they're called, I love pining stories where one character is soo in love with another, but they don't think that other character loves them; amnesia fics are awesome too, although I haven't read any yet; matchmaker stories are awesome too; as are AU themes where the characters are themselves essentially but different too. There are probably more themes I'm missing, but yeah, those are pretty awesome.
→ How does writing style affect how you read fanfic?
I find it hard to like screenplay fics. There's nothing wrong with the style itself, but often people can't quite pull it off (including myself). And I'm of the opinion that screenplays should only be written if you're working on a film.
→ What kind of comments do you use for feedback and why?
A combination of praise-worthy and constructive criticism. That is when I do bother to comment.
→ How many fanfics, from drabbles to epics, have you written?
Holy crap...228, I believe, if my counting is correct.(Not including eight pieces of original stories, poems and the first four pieces I did way back when that I'm still embarrassed about and would like to forget their existence.)
→ How many are still Work In Progress?
Have about one WIP that's up online (one original WIP story, and one totally discontinued SM WIP) and about 28 - or 29? - that are still on my computer and will probably never see the light of day.
→ Tell me about all the fics you've ever abandoned, removed from archives and why.
Hmmm, I don't think I've removed any fics from archives, though, again, I still wish I could delete some things because, yeah, they're bad and pointless (like the first two pieces I did when I first got into fandom) but then again, they're a testament of what kind of writer I was seven years ago. And speaking of fics I wish I could delete, one of my abandoned WIP was the very second fic I started writing after getting into fandom, so yeah, no chance of me ever coming back to it. Yet, I don't have the heart to delete them. There have been plenty of stories that I've abandoned in the planning stage, but am trying to get into the habit of finishing stories now before I release them to the online public.
→ Tell me about all the fics you've planned to write, but just haven't yet.
I think I'd like to write more crossovers. I started writing one recently (crossing Twilight/Tuck Everlasting) but then I got bored with it and left it. I started a Charmed/CSI fic once as well...I have no idea what's going on with it but it's probably going into the 'abandoned' file. I'd also like to write more gen pieces and AU or AR fics. Both are awesome to read when they're written by other people, but I love romance stories so much and canon seems easier to write as there's no research involved, and I just can't seem to force myself out of that comfort zone. I also have prompt tables saved that I've taken from various challenge comms that I would like to write for someday (for example:
100_women,
drabbles100, and
zutara100- among many others). So yeah, way too much to write about and not enough time/motivation to write it all!
→ Finally, name all the fandoms you've written for!
OK - deep breath - Avatar: The Last Airbender, Charmed, 10 Things I Hate About You, Doctor Who, Shelter, Stargate Atlantis, Cardcaptor Sakura, CSI: New York, CSI, FAKE, Holes, Boy Meets World, The Princess Bride, Psych, Sailor Moon, Harry Potter, Strachey Mysteries, Hey Arnold!, Howl's Moving Castle, Naruto, Roswell, Twilight, Torchwood, Spirited Away, Star Wars, Bridget Jones' Diary, Kyle XY, xxxHoLiC, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Visions of Escaflowne, Ranma 1/2, Mediator, The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, The Princess Diaries 2, Ruby & The Rockits, A Walk to Remember, The Kouga Ninja Scrolls, MARS, Chocolat, Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genuis, Tuck Everlasting, and The Breakfast Club. (It should be noted that most of these fandoms I've written for include just shorty shorts and only have one fic total for some of them and I haven't revisited some of these fandoms in years, but it said to name all the fandoms I've written for.)

I've been thinking about buying something for my computer because I'm rapidly running out of disk space and I need to do something.
Would a flash drive just work to store things on? I don't need to carry it around, which I gather is the purpose of a flash drive, but I really like how flash drives are so small, sleek, and awesome-looking.
I suppose what I really need is an external hard drive but those would be (more) expensive, wouldn't they?
Just, gah, this flash drive is so technologically attractive. But then so is this awesomely pretty black hard drive. Or maybe this one?
