I went to my Junior prom tonight.

It was like you have this picture in your mind of something, and then once you experience it, it doesn't quite match up to what you pictured. It was kind of like that.

But I had fun, even though I'm kind of not the party girl and would rather stay in and read a good book than try to hide the fact that I can't dance to save my life. (I'm all limbs, and no grace, basically.) Also left early because the party was dwindling down, and the dj had some problems with the speakers (something about the blacklights draining all the power).

Oh, yeah, and the theme was Highlight the Night or something like that. The gym was awesomely decorated.

I am now tired, and want to sleep, but I don't think I can- I'm still too wired.

Today was also older brother's graduation from SMCC- he got an associate's degree in New Media/Communications, and next fall will be going to USM for his bachelor's degree.

I'm so proud of him. Also saw his report card when he printed it out this afternoon- all A's. He's awesomely awesome and I feel so lucky to be related to him. (And I'm gonna stop here before I start getting all mushy.)

The graduation, for the most part, was hard to get through. (We only knew one person there.) Some not young people talking about, well, quite honestly I don't remember now. The student president was the funniest when he addressed us. "Stay in college for as long as possible." "Stay in your parents' house for as long as possible because it's less stress free." "Stay away from marriage and having kids for as long as possible because they require responsibility."

I'm of course paraphrasing but the guy was memorable because he gave advice that normally you wouldn't hear at a graduation. (In that usually people are full of cliches like 'live life to the fullest,' 'reach for the sky,' yadda-yadda, blah, blah, blah- so serious and makes you feel as though you have to be Superman to accomplish everything to make them happy.) He reminded me of like one of those California surfer dudes. (He actually talked about learning to surf this summer in Hawaii, and there was some head-banging he did to demonstrate his flavor in head-banging music, I guess.)

Also worked Friday for three hours. Yay! More money; always a good thing.
