I fell in love with Roswell when it was in its last season, and started shipping it right from the beginning. I remember Michael & Maria were broken up by the time I got sucked into watching the show, but there was angst and I was convinced there were longing looks between the both of them when they were broken up, and my young shipper heart wanted them to get back together like yesterday.
My thoughts
While I'm also a major Max/Liz fan, I liked the contrast we saw between the two couples. Maria and Michael were two people I didn't think would ever work well together, or end up with a happily ever after like Max/Liz, but they had awesome chemistry and were so different from how Max and Liz worked as a couple. But the more I watched Roswell, the more I learned about Maria and Michael as individuals and the more I wanted them to find happiness with each other.
What makes me happy about them
That Michael, in the end, told her that he loved her and there'd never be anyone else for him. I also liked that Maria chose to go on the run with him and the rest of the group.
What makes me sad about them
That we didn't get as much closure concerning them as we did Max/Liz, i.e. we didn't see them getting married.
Things done in art/fic that annoys me
I don't read much Roswell fic, unfortunately, and the few that I have read were quite enjoyable so I guess I'll just say OOCness where Michael is standoffish and a jerk and Maria is portrayed as being too clingy or needy or whatever.
Things I look for in art/fic
I'm pretty easy when it comes to art/fic--just that there is art/fic for them and includes characterization as close to the show as possible, and good grammar is a must.
Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
I don't think I would be comfortable with them not ending up with each other. (However, I wouldn't say no to a 0T4 with Max/Liz/Maria/Michael--but I'm pretty hardcore about shipping Max/Liz & Maria/Michael together.)
My happily ever after for them
they get married and their kids play with Max and Liz's kids (and they come back to Roswell with the group after a few years).
