it's not pretty

I Met A Genius
I met a genius on the train
today
about 6 years old.
he sat beside me
and as the train
ran down along the coast
we came to the ocean
and then he looked at me
and said,
it's not pretty.
it was the first time I'd
realized
that.
----Charles Bukowski
This poem is just so great for the simple fact that it tricks you into believing that the six-year-old really is a a genius of some kind and then you find out he isn't, but that he really is in that way that only kids can be geniuses- with their simple honesty and curious nature.
