Haven
I've been binging on Haven where I've literally been just taking in as much as I can and ignoring everything else (even other social media sites I'm on) since about last Wednesday (the 10th). This was also due in part to having the worst earache I've ever had the displeasure to suffer through and where, as a result, I hadn't been able to sleep all that much--not for lack of trying, but I'd get into bed and all I could focus was on the excruciating pain, and maybe if I didn't lie on my side I could probably fall asleep just to have to get up in a few hours.
I got the earache trying to jam a Q-tip into my ear five days after my trip to the lake where I got some water in my ear unfortunately, but I thought the water was gone by that point! But it wasn't! I just made it worse somehow when I used the Q-tip and dislodged some dormant water or something because I did get that insane sensation like when your ears haven't popped, and I did feel like some water was sloshing around in there. The relief--pure relief--only came when I got the bright idea to put a hot towel on my ear to ease some of the soreness that I probably caused with the Q-tip--no matter how gently I thought I used the damned thing--but I wasn't so hopeful on the dislodging of water from my ear, and I was right. -_- Still feel like my left ear is full of water (and ugh, at one point, I was also scared that my ear was filled with sand as well because the lake floor is all sand and when you try to do handstands on the bottom of the lake with your legs kicking in the air, some sand is wont to get lodged somewhere uncomfortable and unwanted; this is probably not a good idea at all, doing the handstands and other crazy moves I mean, hence the uncomfortable water in ear almost a week and a half later), but I no longer want to chop off my ear to ease the aching pain, so...win, I guess?
BUT! Let's go back to talking about more fun things so--Haven!
Pretty much have just s2 and about eight episodes of s3 to watch before I'm caught up with this show. It's all yayness!!

- On the shipping front (because, really, that's all that ever matters to me when I consume anything): definitely all for the Audrey/Duke/Nathan train. Audrey/Nathan because they're like star-crossed lovers, Duke/Nathan because they're not /quite/ friends but have been in each other's orbits since they were five and have that antagonistic thing going on, Audrey/Duke because I never could resist a good girl/bad boy with a heart of gold trope pairing either.
- I have a feeling that s2 and 3 are gonna be the strongest seasons of the show. Yes, it means trying to get through s1 when things are getting introduced and set up. It's not a bad season per se, but more incoherent, I guess. (s1, as far as I can tell, has more of a Duke/Nathan slashy-vibe thing going on that gets dropped in later seasons unfortunately. Not that I don't enjoy the Audrey/Nathan angst of will-they-or-won't and the parade of other love interests both of them have going on later, but I love Duke.)
- On the one hand, I don't want to binge so much on Haven because s4 isn't due until September and I don't want have a Haven-less life until then. On the other...Oh my damn, is it addicting! And I don't really care much for the Troubles or the Trouble-case-of-the-week because...honestly, some Troubles are just so damn wacky, it's that I care more about the mystery of who Audrey is and the Colorado Kid is and who Lucy Ripley is at the beginning. (There was the girl in "Reunion" who touched any kind of food and it all turned to cake on her. And then there's someone like Arla who's a skinwalker and who unfortunately had her own skin slide right off her and who needs to supply it with other people's skin. My point being is that these Troubles run the gamut from wacky and weird to just plain ol' gross and nightmare-ish. Although to be fair, the turning any food into cake is the least harmful of the Troubles we've seen, but as Audrey said, they don't call them curses for nothing so most Troubles are on the nightmare-ish side more often than not.)
- I am a fan of sci-fi/fantasy shows like Haven, and so I /should/ know what I'm getting into. Audrey basically gets reincarnated every time she goes into a magical barn that appears with a meteorite storm, which means she has to die to stop the Troubles from being "activated" and she has to lose her self every damn twenty-seven years and it's not /fair/ at all and sci-fi/fantasy media should raise stakes quite high but damn it, I do wish Haven was a normal universe where Audrey didn't have to sacrifice herself every damn time or find some way to end the Troubles once and for all. (Mostly because I want my happy endings even though happy endings are boring.)
