And every question fades away

▲ Huh. Two different sites have written the same article concerning Ultimate Spider-Man #160. VERY BIG SPOILERS. Major things happen so don't click on the links unless you want to be MAJORLY spoiled. NPR story; HuffingtonPost. Color me intrigued, I might actually pick up this issue if I can.

♠ So went comic-book shopping again two weeks ago but in all the hub-bub between DC news and my utter disappointment over writing actually being torturous, I didn't get to talk about all the comics I got (which is something I can talk about forever and is my dearest wish to do so - talk about comics, that is).

X-Factor issues #:
210
212
213
214
218
219
220

Tiny Titans #40
and Young Avengers: Sidekicks (volume 1)

(Can you believe I still haven't actually found issue #217? It's bugging me very much.)

I also saw a beautiful Batgirl book - Batgirl: The Greatest Stories Ever Told that I wanna grab the next time I go - it features the original Batgirl, Barbara Gordon. (The book got horrible reader reviewers on Amazon, but, eh, I don't really pay attention to those things so I will definitely grab it next time - if someone else doesn't grab it first.)

And I don't know if they have Batgirl: The Flood here (featuring Stephanie Brown as Batgirl) but I am SO IN LOVE with this cover/book too.

And they had Batwoman: Elegy too, which I've been meaning to read and is another book I'm hoping to buy next time. But I seriously had no money left after buying the newest issue of X-Factor, issue 40 of Tiny Titans, and (finally!) volume 1 of Young Avengers. (Well, the newest issues of X-Factor and Tiny Titans aren't that expensive, it's the collected editions/trade paperbacks like vol. 1 of YA that cost as much as a hardcover novel normally would but trade paperbacks are so awesome in that each volume has a lot more than the usual 22/24 pages of an individual issue. Individual issues are awesome too when it's a current comic and you can't wait for it to be collected in a book.)

I just can't seem to find the beginning volumes of Birds of Prey yet though I am finding the newest issues - I'm afraid I think this is because the beginning of BoP - the Chuck Dixon era at least- is out of print. (I feel like, come September, I'll have an even harder time tracking down beginning issues of comics. ;/ I hope that won't happen but seeing as I'm having trouble now...And yes, I'm still going to give DC my money even if they aren't targeting me specifically. I won't be happy about it though. But still, Blue Beetle and Batgirl are awesome and I will gladly give my money to these awesome characters, although, again I will feel horrible still being loyal to DC but it's like I can't win with them. I want to read their stories and buy their stuff, but they won't devote their company to stories I DESPERATELY want to read about - like more Batgirl titles with Steph and Cass not disappearing into comics limbo, and not separating Dick and Damian.)

I found most other issues of X-Factor that my primary comic store didn't have by going to another comic store (one that is admittedly a lot closer). So yay!

The thing is I wish websites of LCS had a list of all their inventories/books they carried. I realize that this would create a lot of work for the store owners to compile and keep up with as they probably have hundreds upon hundreds of books and comics and new comics arriving weekly (and other merchandise) and besides, who'd have that kind of time? But, I dunno, it'd be useful (I'll admit probably only useful for me). Of course they do have a list up on their websites/facebook on new releases all the time, which is yayness! so I really shouldn't complain too much, it's just the organized freak in me just imagining how awesome it would be to inventory all the comics/books (I know - I am so much fun).

I've also been marathon-ing the Cartoon Network show Young Justice and so far I really like it. I don't have much to say about it except OMG YAY! But I'm easy when it comes to shows about superheroes.

Wally/Kid Flash is fast becoming my favorite character. Of course Miss Martian, M'gann, the Martian Manhunter's niece, is my absolute favorite. ♥♥ And Roy is my second favorite, and of course I ship Roy/Wally together, even if Roy is a bit of a ladies-man but that's okay - in my head, he totally loves Wally. Of course I love all of the other characters. Superboy is awesome here too, and of course I ship M'gann/Superboy together as well (two awkward aliens! I'm sorry they're just adorable together). So really this show is all about the shipping for me, but it's awesome with its action and plot sequences too.

The adult counterparts aren't shown a lot but when they do show up, they're awesome too, although Superman here is a bit of a jackass when it comes to Superboy and totally ignores him. Of course the Smallville universe has Clark accepting Kon wholeheartedly, and in this universe it's a bit jarring to find Clark not liking his clone. But, in the Smallville universe, it has to be said Tess is instrumental in Clark accepting Kon, at least that's how I view it. Conner in SV gives Tess a chance to become a mother-figure of sorts and to help guide Kon, which is really lovely and something I love about Tess - she came from this dark place and bearing the Luthor name and all the craziness that comes with that name and she turns her destiny into something bright and hopeful - which is why her death in the finale is sucky, to say the least. And also Tess was such a BAMF that for her to go out like that, at the hands of Lex, of all people, when she survived everything else, is really maddening.

Huh. I guess I still have some unresolved thoughts on Smallville.

But, really, concerning Young Justice, Batman is a REALLY great father/mentor compared to Superman, which is totally somehow screwy and turns the whole world upside down.

I'm thinking of starting Batman: The Brave and the Bold next too since YJ has only just started and there aren't that many episodes and the next episode, I have no idea when it'll air.

So much tv/awesomeness to immerse myself in, so little time.

Also, older brother keeps asking me how my comic book reading is going when he visits and that I should share some recommendations.

I just think this is so adorable of him.

(I gave him the first volume of Frank Miller's All-Star Batman and Robin book to read last year when I finished with it and I have no idea what he thought of that especially considering that is such a controversial book even among Frank Miller fans. But am sure he'd like other Batman titles.)

My only problem is I have no idea if the characters I care for would even interest him (because the characters I mostly read about/care about are considered minorities, like females and LGBTQIA characters, very much, uh, the sort of readership DC probably doesn't care about and wants to reboot and therefore doesn't cater to unfortunately.)

So I guess it's just generic Batman/Superman/Spider-Man/X-Men titles I'll be recommending him.

But, still, I'm plagued with, "I love these characters/books, but I don't think you will so I have no idea what to recommend you because I don't know those other comics I don't read." *hands* I'm probably making a bigger deal out of this than it needs to be. (Like the only Bat titles I'd really WANT to read are Batwoman and Batgirl...)

(I still have some posts to write up, but I've been sitting on writing this one for the past two weeks, so I'll get to those later...)
