Oh, yeah, I don't think that crossed my mind though it should've. I mean, things like that happen in comics fandom whenever there's a new movie out about a superhero, and fandom gets divided between who is a "real" fan or not depending on if they've read the comics or have only seen the movies.

I just don't get why those people who police who is a "real" fan or not don't see the movie as an exciting thing because, dude, it's your franchising never dying and people are still talking about it 20+ years! There are a lot of tv shows/movies who'd kill for that kind of recognition (LOL--i mean fans of small fandoms who would kill for their fandoms to blow up years later after ending/getting cancelled). So I guess I'm just kinda baffled that there are people like that who would create those unsafe places for new fans. New fans are an awesome thing! No matter how they got to be a fan...
