FABLES is a lot like Once Upon a Time the tv show but in comics format. People have commented on their similarities and they are similar but not by much? Like the only thing they have in common is that they are modern adaptations of the classic fairy tale stories and fables most of us grew up with, and the fact that Snow White is kinda the central character with different issues and arcs revolving around the other characters too but it all ultimately ties back into her character much like how Mary Margaret's character is tied into OUAT when the different scenes branch out to fully explore the other characters in OUAT.
(Fables also has a lot of other mini-series that branch out from the main titles like, recently there was a mini-series on Cinderella and her job of being a spy. YES, Cinderella is an awesome spy in this universe and is a very cool character. And there was a mini-series on Jack from the Beanstalk fame - the one featured here in this scene; and there is also another comic called FAIREST that takes place in this universe and focuses on the fairy tale women.)
In this scene, Snow White rushes to the Fabletown jail to try to help Bigby (the reformed big bad wolf from Red Riding Hood and a few other tales) after she realizes Bluebeard came to the jail to try to kill Jack because Jack and Snow's sister Rose Red, tried to swindle the murderous Bluebeard out of money. The reason why this is an awesome comic book moment is because one: Snow White and a big-ass sword (the vorpal blade from Jabberwocky - which is admittedly better seen in previous scans) and two: JUST LOOK AT BIGBY WHEN HE SAYS 'MY HERO'; seen from a Snow/Bigby 'shipper's view (i.e. my view), it's kinda adorable and squee-worthy.
It's a safe bet to say that Fables is my favorite non-superhero comic.
