◄ I've been engrossed in reading Not Always Romantic just because a fic linked to it. Man, some of these stories. Just. Wow.

♥ I will always pimp this show, so if you've wanted to watch Chicago Fire, all episodes are up online until it comes back on January 31 here. (Also, alternatively, on hulu).

◄ Speaking of pimping shows, Suits also comes back on January 17! Also was trying to find good fanvids for the show on YT, and stumbled upon these Suits Recruits mini-episodes that I think were produced just for the fans? (HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! I hope they end up on the DVDs.) My favorite is the Firing Norma one. Harold, you and your curly blond head are my favorite.

Another favorite is the Quote for Quote. HARVEY SPECTER QUOTES THE PRINCESS BRIDE. WHOOOOOOOOOOPPP.

There is a whole bunch of them here and I'd highly recommend viewing them - if you're a fan or just aren't sure if you want to watch the show, it's great for dipping your toes in.

Steadily making my way through my massive dorama list. I don't really know anything about Secret Garden except it's got some body-switching shenanigans. And that is enough to intrigue me.

But I'm apparently also staying for the characters.

And because it's such a pretty show. And I'm really in love with the theme song.

I'm sorry I haven't been very active on here; school is making me so insane and on the verge of always being one step away from a nervous breakdown. But I can't afford any nervous breakdowns because that would require me taking a break from my life and that's not...possible at the moment.

But that's depressing so let's talk about some happy things:

I've also been tuning in to Castle and Once Upon a Time. I don't have much to say about either of them except Castle is not holding my attention all that much lately. (I don't think it's quite jumped the shark and I *LOVE* that Beckett and Castle are together...but I'm just not sure about some of the execution of the Beckett and Castle togetherness - if that makes any sense at all.) But I am loving Once Upon a Time.
dahlia_moon: (Default)
I'm catching up on Castle on my break (have just s3 to go and then I'll all be caught up for s5 come September. yessss! finally. then it'll be time to catch up on other tv shows and foreign dramas. SERIOUSLY. SO. MUCH. TV. SO LITTLE TIME.) And also, sporadically, catching up on movies too.

Tonight (well this morning - it's late/early here), I finally watched Sherlock Holmes for the first time.

Just a quick review (no spoilers, just pretty general comments) -

HOLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYY

U GUISEEE

THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE.

I mean, I knew it would be. I remember seeing the trailers and absolutely getting the sense that this would be a fun film to watch but I TOTALLY DID NOT KNOW HOW MUCH OF AN AWESOMELYTASTIC FUN MOVIE IT WAS. (No, awesomelytastic is totally a word, shuddup.)

I really thought I'd love just Sherlock and John here, but the love I now carry for Irene Adler did come out of left field and left me surprised in a good way. Have I raved here how very much I love Rachel McAdams? Because I do. I think she's an awesome actress.

The ending was awesome too, left it at just the right place to make you as the viewer feel satisfied but also to seque nicely into the sequel.

I think that's just all I have to say? The movie, overall, was just freakin' fantastic and I loved every minute of it and was not bored and did not pause at all for long periods of time like I do for the vast majority of movies I watch by myself.

Am still in denial that I've turned twenty-one. Not to make any one here feel older but this is old enough, okay? stop aging self.

There was some wine-tasting. It was as horrible as I thought it might be. And a Pushing Daisies marathon that left me wanting more. :/ Damn it, show. You ended with even more questions than you started with. (I wanted more story lines about Ned's father; he clearly knows about his son but where has he been these past twenty years of his son's life?!)

And writing. Wrote some more on that Young Justice story.

and I screen-capped the story lines I wrote out on Twitter so I can have them for later (read from bottom up):

On the academic front, I only have to show up for one final on Tuesday for the poetry class. Of course that means I have one English essay and one Philosophy essay to hand in before semester's end next Friday and of course I haven't started either essay. Thankfully no Biology lab and creative writing final.

"My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun" (Sonnet 130)
William Shakespeare

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

• HOLYYYYYYYY - DID EVERYONE SEE THIS? EVERYONE GO SEE THISSSSSS!! The Legend of Korra official opening titles Man, I got *chills* watching this.

[livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo is over. I definitely did better than last year, even though I missed some days this time around as well. But I wrote over 6,587 which is a lot more than I have written for a single story, I can tell you that much. And I got these cool banners:

(Next year, I'm totally going for the banners that say, "I wrote every day and met my word goal," and "I wrote every day." Because, dammnit, I want both banners!)

I still haven't watched found time to watch Grimm or Once Upon A Time. But soon!

NEW TV and WRITING
  • Terra Nova continues to be awesome. I love pretty much everybody on it. I just wish they could tell us more about what the year 2149 was like. I know we know the gist of it, but some flashbacks wouldn't be remiss, show. And I know the point of the show isn't that the characters dwell in the past, but look to the future, and yadda-yadda ya, but if they don't look to the past every once in a while, they'll end up making the same mistake. And there won't be a rift in the time-space continuum then that they can escape to. Just sayin'.
  • Sped through the first season of Spooks/M1-5 which was kinda easy for me since it was only six episodes. I have spoiled myself on the subsequent seasons and if it weren't for Rupert Penry-Jones and Richard Armitage appearing in later seasons, I'd just give up now.
  • Psych is back!! Yay. The show is kinda ridiculous in a campy, I-don't-think-that's-quite-how-you-do things sort of way, but I love that it can be a silly crime show. You can laugh for an hour and I appreciate that. The sixth season premiere episode was so freaking awesome.
  • There was fic posted over the weekend. cover the earth with roses (Persuasion) and I told her all my heart (North & South). They're really short but I've found it's quite hard to try to write for period dramas if you totally don't want to be OOC (for either the characters or time period).
And I continue to watch way too much tv and movies. I blame Netflix. That devil.

dahlia_moon: (SGA team awesome)
  • So [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa is live and I've decided NOT to participate this year, which, yeah bums me out a bit but I think it's for the best. I still have my romcom story I need to finish (this is the amnesty period and if I don't get it done by the new year, I have no idea what I'll do with myself).
  • So the new owners of Delicious have moved in. Ugh. I'll miss the old layout. Also: Delicious, I'm pretty sure I had a ton more tags than the ones I'm currently able to see on the side.
  • I watched the two-hour premier of Terra Nova last night. I pretty much loved it. Dinosaur-themed shows aren't particularly my cup of tea, but there's time travel and mysteries and Landon Liboiron. So. (Google says he's my age. I'm choosing to believe this because it tickles me.) I'm in love with the whole Shannon family. And Skye. Skye, it took me a while to warm up to her, but by the end of the episode, I was totally rooting for her. And, kinda surprising, I like Commander Taylor too. I know he's creepy to most people and he's definitely hiding something but I don't think he's wholly evil. I don't think the Sixers are wholly evil too, even if, judging by the first episode, we are led to believe that they're the bad guys because they've separated from everybody else on the colony. But it's early days yet so we shall wait and see.

Gosh, it's gonna be a drag to go back to school but on the other hand, I'm really very excited. (Been so bored this past summer because I literally did not do anything of importance.)

But it's also my third year of undergraduate college and I'm not looking forward to that because I still have no idea what I'm gonna do because the Nursing program seduced me, screwed me over, broke my heart in a million pieces and then laughed about it. But I'm gonna need to pick something and Rodney told me at our last counseling appointment that he has a plan B in case I don't get in, except I have no idea what this plan B is, unless it's just picking another major, which will NOT DO, it will simply not do, Rodney, it's either the Nursing program for me or I'm going to give up all my worldly possessions and go live under a rock as a hermit. And trust me, no one will want that. :/

I might as well be dramatic while freaking out.

So far my classes are:

Microbiology & Human Disease lecture + lab
Pathophysiology
Human Nutrition
Public Speaking
(And I've shared some pictures of the books for these classes here on my Tumblr.)

I'm freaking out for the Spring semester because, after these classes, I'd have finished all the prerequisites for the Nursing program and I don't know what else I'd need to choose.

I was thinking studying abroad would be awesome for the Spring semester because maybe then I can freak out in another country. We shall see.

But seriously, that hermit idea is sounding more and more appealing to me.

[community profile] fannish5: Now that the summer is coming to an end (in the Northern Hemisphere), what 5 shows are you most looking forward to starting/returning?

1. The Vampire Diaries (9/15/2011)
2. Psych (10/12/2011)
3. Suburgatory (9/28/2011)
4. Terra Nova (9/26/2011)
5. The Secret Circle (9/15/2011)

and some runners up:
6. 2 Broke Girls (9/19/2011)
7. Last Man Standing (10/11/2011)
8. Once Upon a Time (10/23/2011)
9. Grimm (10/21/2011)
10. Hart of Dixie (9/26/2011)

I don't like getting into shows until I know for certain whether they're going to be cancelled during the first season or not so the latter half of the list are all new shows I'm kinda iffy about (sometimes I can't avoid getting into new shows before they're finished with the first season). But LMS has Tim Allen!!! Who I have this sort of weird crush on. I dunno. Don't ask. I don't get it either.

And the trailer for "Once Upon a Time" is making me all kinds of squeal-y because FAIRY TALES!!!!!! FINALLY A SHOW ABOUT FAIRY TALES!!!!!!! WHICH IS ABOUT DAMN TIME (because we keep getting movies and movies and books and books - which I love don't get me wrong - but no one ever thinks about a fairy tale tv show - well, until now that is). And there's also Grimm, I believe, but I haven't seen that promoted as much and I have no idea what it's about.
dahlia_moon: (Aang & Katara - very please with themsel)
Still trying to process Dominion. And while it was awesome to see Justin Hartley back on Smallville after so many weeks of not seeing his character and behind the director's chair, the episode just didn't do anything for me, personally. Maybe it's mostly because I'm hating Oliver's storyline now. (And I miss Chloe.)

I dunno. I just think the finale will be a big let-down (what's that phrase? Oh ye of little faith.) and am trying to not have high expectations for it. (The show is ENDING in two weeks...Over, kaput...GAH!)

If I'm freaking out, just think what fans that have been devoted to the show since the beginning are feeling like...

I also stayed up until 4am last night/this morning watching the Empty Nest marathon the Hallmark channel had. I couldn't NOT watch it seeing as it was kinda, sorta a spin-off of The Golden Girls and I'm kinda weirdly in love with that show. (Seriously, why can't I find anyone else who loves it? Besides my mother that is. I know it's about four old women but they're four old women who totally ROCK.)

Man, I wish I cared to watch the Oscars just to see my celebrity boyfriend, James Franco, host (along with the awesomely lovely Anne Hathaway). They should totally be leads in a movie some day - they'd totally be hot.

This week AA had two spoilers for Greek:

Question: Got any scoop on the March 7 series finale of Greek?! —@TurboMeg via Twitter
Ausiello: Stock up on Puffs Plus Lotion (with the scent of Vicks) ’cause you’re going to be bawling till your tear ducts dry out and your nose falls off. I screened the episode over the weekend and I have to give props to the creative team for ending on an emotionally satisfying high note. Highlights: There’s one (or is it two?) long overdue hookup, a pitch perfect bookend-y scene between sibs Rusty and Casey, and an answer to one of the show’s biggest mysteries: What the hell is Cappie’s real name? (If you guessed ******* **** **** *****, congrats, you were right!)

Question: Will Frannie appear on Greek before the show ends? —Amy
Ausiello: Yes, the witch (played once again by Tiffany Dupont) touches down in the penultimate episode on Feb. 28 and immediately extends an olive branch to her still-steaming-mad ZBZ sisters. And this particular olive branch has a name: Justin Bieber. (BTW, Cappie’s reaction to seeing Frannie again is priceless.)

Kinda ambivalent about Frannie.

And a TVD scoop:

Question: Got any scoop on The Vampire Diaries? —Ellie
Ausiello:
Thursday’s episode is not to be missed. It boasts two deaths, one super-romantic Matt/Caroline scene, and — in the hour’s final minutes — a doozy of a twist.

yay! Matt/Caroline!! I missed the last two recentish eps but hope I can get caught up before tomorrow.

Also, finally finished and posted a SGA vid for [livejournal.com profile] stargateland's episode vid challenge where you could only use clips from one episode to make the video from. This would be my third one? I think. The second SGA vid we shan't talk about because it was horrible and it'd be best to just forget it exists.

Things I'm Looking Forward To:

* The new Wonder Woman reboot. I haven't seen Friday Night Lights (I have been hearing fantastic things about it...) so can't comment on the actress but she's pretty enough.

* Terra Nova. I seriously have to plea that people stop making awesome tv! (at least for a little while.) Seriously! I can't get to it all.

*Abandon by Meg Cabot is coming out the 26th of April. (And the sequel to Insatiable in July? I think. Which is yay!! and all but it means I'm gonna have to break my promise to myself and break out the piggy bank even though I firmly told myself no more spending money on frivolous things. And books unfortunately go under that heading because you can't really wear a book or eat a book or survive in any way on a book.) It looks like it'll be a creepy story and that is awesome too! Because the story of Persephone and Hades is a *creepy* story. (Is it bad that I now want someone to write a modern day retelling of the Eros/Psyche story? Because that is so not a creepy story. But I really should be happy we're getting the Persephone/Hades retelling because that is an awesome story too - even if it is creepy. Ah the romantic in me.)

In Smallville news, Lex Luthor is coming back for the finale. I have no idea how they'll swing that but I'll tune in even if he's not my most favorite character on SV.

*Also, I feel I have to apologize to you all as I've been a very bad lj-friend lately what with not commenting or talking to any of you on here. I swear it's not personal and I am reading all of your updates, it's just I don't have the energy to think up replies at the moment. Maybe next week when I'm on break and haven't lost my head...

Supernatural and I have parted ways. It was amicable, no hurt feelings, but my heart isn't invested anymore (I mainly watched for Castiel but I don't think he's in a lot of episodes this season and it would've been torture watching all the episodes he wasn't in just so I could understand the episodes he did appear in). I have been reading random people's reviews, and there's a lot that I don't think I would've liked just based from other people's reactions. I'm not so keen on catching up and I think it's better this way.
