Gosh, it's gonna be a drag to go back to school but on the other hand, I'm really very excited. (Been so bored this past summer because I literally did not do anything of importance.)

But it's also my third year of undergraduate college and I'm not looking forward to that because I still have no idea what I'm gonna do because the Nursing program seduced me, screwed me over, broke my heart in a million pieces and then laughed about it. But I'm gonna need to pick something and Rodney told me at our last counseling appointment that he has a plan B in case I don't get in, except I have no idea what this plan B is, unless it's just picking another major, which will NOT DO, it will simply not do, Rodney, it's either the Nursing program for me or I'm going to give up all my worldly possessions and go live under a rock as a hermit. And trust me, no one will want that. :/

I might as well be dramatic while freaking out.

So far my classes are:

Microbiology & Human Disease lecture + lab
Pathophysiology
Human Nutrition
Public Speaking
(And I've shared some pictures of the books for these classes here on my Tumblr.)

I'm freaking out for the Spring semester because, after these classes, I'd have finished all the prerequisites for the Nursing program and I don't know what else I'd need to choose.

I was thinking studying abroad would be awesome for the Spring semester because maybe then I can freak out in another country. We shall see.

But seriously, that hermit idea is sounding more and more appealing to me.

[community profile] fannish5: Now that the summer is coming to an end (in the Northern Hemisphere), what 5 shows are you most looking forward to starting/returning?

1. The Vampire Diaries (9/15/2011)
2. Psych (10/12/2011)
3. Suburgatory (9/28/2011)
4. Terra Nova (9/26/2011)
5. The Secret Circle (9/15/2011)

and some runners up:
6. 2 Broke Girls (9/19/2011)
7. Last Man Standing (10/11/2011)
8. Once Upon a Time (10/23/2011)
9. Grimm (10/21/2011)
10. Hart of Dixie (9/26/2011)

I don't like getting into shows until I know for certain whether they're going to be cancelled during the first season or not so the latter half of the list are all new shows I'm kinda iffy about (sometimes I can't avoid getting into new shows before they're finished with the first season). But LMS has Tim Allen!!! Who I have this sort of weird crush on. I dunno. Don't ask. I don't get it either.

And the trailer for "Once Upon a Time" is making me all kinds of squeal-y because FAIRY TALES!!!!!! FINALLY A SHOW ABOUT FAIRY TALES!!!!!!! WHICH IS ABOUT DAMN TIME (because we keep getting movies and movies and books and books - which I love don't get me wrong - but no one ever thinks about a fairy tale tv show - well, until now that is). And there's also Grimm, I believe, but I haven't seen that promoted as much and I have no idea what it's about.

What are the five most depressing episodes/chapters/scenes?

(They are in descending order of most depressing to least.)

1. The ending of Star Wars: Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith- it always manages to make me cry like a baby. (The whole ten minutes right up to the ending credits, yep.)

2. The Doomsday episode of Doctor Who. 'Nuff said.

3. The amnesia arc in Hana Yori Dango- I know it's not real sad, and everything ends happily ever after, but it was depressing for me to read, and I was counting the chapters, and looking ahead for when Tsukasa would finally remember Tsukushi.

4. The ending of The Kouga Ninja Scrolls- basically everyone dies; no one of twenty people lives. And the chapter is, appropriately, entitled The Last Battle.

5. The most depressing episode of Kyle XY for me, so far, was The List is Life episode (?)- the one where Lori & Declan break up.

------
As a side note this is the best thing I've read so far:

It's not easy confronting these things and sometimes I think fen want easy answers. Not a lot of extrapolation is given to Padmé's psyche but I think that with what's there, you can pick up the clues. In TPM, Padmé the person had to be subsumed under the strong leader Amidala. She might have been good at statecraft but outside of her cadre of handmaidens, did she really have any friends? Nope, not until she met lil' Ani. While I'm sure she loved her family and they loved her, she had been separated from them pretty much since childhood. She's the boarding school girl who didn't get to go home at the end of the year. As soon as she steps off the throne, she's a Senator. No time for dating or anything resembling a normal life for a girl her age. Again, aside from her handmaidens, she probably didn't have any real friends her age. Then hot grown-up Anakin reappears in her life and he's interested in Padmé the woman, not the Senator. For the first time in her life, she learns what it is like to be wanted, to be desired by someone. Especially a someone who's willing to sacrifice his own career, heck his life, for her. Throw in some dangerous situations, emotional drama, and some time alone on the most romantic planet in the galaxy, Padmé is as good as gone. She'd have to be more pious than Joan of Arc to turn down Anakin after all of that. He gives her something missing from her emotional life and once she has it, it's not easy for her to give it up. Both she and Anakin craved intimacy on an emotional and psychological level as well as a physical one, and for a while they were able to give that to each other.

The link to the rest of the article. (Although I pretty much copied the whole article on here.)

It defends Padmé, although I don't know why some people are...critical of her, I guess (haven't come across anything bad about Padmé, but I suppose it's out there). I know she has some faults, but as the article talks about, she's human; of course she's gonna have faults. Most of the characters in SW have faults. But do we all love them regardless? YES.

Yesterday's [livejournal.com profile] fannish5:

What are the five love stories that you love the most, in canon or fan sources (fanfic, vids, other)?

1. Logan/Marie from The X-Men Movie: Obviously, this is a more fan source pairing, but I'd love it even if it were canon.
2. Edward/Bella from Twilight: Of course, I always have love for main characters and canon pairings.
3. Zuko/Katara from Avatar: This is an exception to my always-loving'-the-canon rule. But, I think it could be canon. (If certain creators weren't geared so much toward the Kataang.)
4. Ten/Rose from Doctor Who: Again, a more fan source pairing, but bordering on the canon. I think what really appeals to me is the fandom is so nice, and not so wanky. Plus, the fic.
5. Sokka/Yue from Avatar: If only she didn't sacrific herself, I think this 'ship could've been a very good one. Plus, Sokka/anyone is awesome, but I love Yue, so her and Sokka together is awesome times infinity, and just pure common sense.

What 5 fandoms would you like to get into, but just can't?

1. Pokemon- this, I unfortunately never got into as obsessively as some of the other kids my age a long time ago (and I think it was mostly because it was a show geared more towards boys than girls, but I don't want to be stereotypical because I do like shows now which are geared more towards boys, so...) I do love the first theme song though. I don't know which one I'm talking about, but I'd only turn to the show at the beginning to hear, I think, the first season song.

2. Digimon- this one is kind of like Pokemon, it was always about battling monsters, and, I don't know, never really got exciting for me. I think I faithfully watched some episodes, and then I stopped.

3. Buffy- I watched some episodes, but then it started getting soap opera-y for me, and I stopped. Now, the fandom is so big and really scares me to get into it.

4. X-Files- while normally I love shows about aliens and the supernatural, and whatever else X-Files was about, I could never sit down and watch even half of an episode. It was too mudane for me, and, well, just not really too awesome for me to get into.

5. Gilmore Girls- I sometimes catch this show when it's airing, but I can't really focus on it, my attention span always ends up wondering somewhere else. And it's not as though it's not original, but just not so interesting to me. I think the fandom would be good, but it's so-so for me right now.

Wow, you know I have tried to stay away from lj for one week? (Wasn't very successful though because I cheated once.) And now I feel so disconnected! (I am so addicted to this thing.)

Catching up on some memes.

This week's [livejournal.com profile] fannish5:

Name five minor characters whose lives and histories you'd like to see explored more (in canon or fanfic). (Not so much minor characters, well with a few exceptions.)

1. Doctor Who: Sally Sparrow. I loved her and I wish they'd show more of her. She's so...cool!

2. Inuysha: Inu no Taishou. I wish we could know more about him. He sounds very interesting.

3. Twilight: Emmett Cullen. I love Emmett. I wish we could get some info on his life before he became a vampire. Every Cullen's story was told but his. WHY???

4. Torchwood: Ianto Jones. We get little snippets into his life, but not a lot.

5. Howl's Moving Castle: the Witch of the Waste. Even though she's not my most favorite character, I'd really wish we could get some insight into her life, like why she was the way she was in both the movie & book.

NANOWRIMO: I'm not "officially" participating this year. (Which just means that I haven't gotten a chance write a single word yet and so, besides the busy time November is going to be for me without even NaNo, I will not be participating this year. Which does make me sad. :( But on the bright side, I will still be working on the three original stories I did start on some time ago. Hopefully I can finish one of them before the month ends. We shall see.)

Um, what else? Oh, I just finished reading the MOST AWESOME BOOK in the universe! Poison by Chris Wooding (and the title is misleading in a way). Anyone read any of his work? He is an award-winning author. But I haven't heard of him until some four weeks ago. (Lol.)

He wrote several other books like Storm Thief,The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray, and Kerosene. (Among other things.) He is a very young author though. (Which surprised me when I googled him. I thought he was some old guy.) And he mainly writes science-fi/young adult.

Poison is about this young girl named Poison whose baby sister Azalea is kidnapped by phaeries. Poison decides to leave Gull to seek the Phaerie Lord to get her sister back. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't want to spoil anyone in case they want to read it. But it's definitely going to surprise them once they get to the end. Wooding creates twists and turns that you can barely know what will happen next. And the writing is phenomenal. The characters are developed nicely and three-dimensional; you can sympatize with them. Besides the awesome characters, there's also a lot of suspense and action (that I liked and kept me interested in the story). The novel is very imaginative and original.

My little book review of this novel doesn't do it justice. But that's because it's so good I have no idea how to even being a good review of it. I am left speechless. I would read this, just because it's interesting.

And I should post this all ready; the browser has been open since this morning...

It's Friday today, isn't it?

[livejournal.com profile] fannish5:
What five events or storylines do you want to see happen (or wish had happened) in canon?

1. Rose Tyler gets reunited with the Doctor [Doctor Who]: Ha, I think if you're a Doctor/Rose 'shipper, this is a given (and of course I am; wholeheartedly). Um, I'd like for RTD to get on this right now, particularly before David Tennant quites and they cast someone else as the doctor, but really, any reincarnation of the Doctor will do, but it'd be much sweeter if it was in David Tennant's era. I know (because I troll the Doctor/Rose newsletter and all the comms), that the Doctor/Rose shippers are very particular about how they'd want the reunion to work, if it in fact it'll ever happen...and I'm seriously doubting it will...not that I wouldn't like for it to happen. But I really don't care how it's handled or what happens and all that jazz. I'll be happy if they get to see each other once more for more than two minutes, seriously.

2. Henry and Betty got a chance to go on their date [Ugly Betty]: I hated the season finale of Ugly Betty. I wish that Henry didn't get on the plane with his girlfriend. I wish that his girlfriend didn't lie to him and tell him that she was pregnant. I wish Betty had gotten to the airport on time. I wish Santos didn't go to the store and got shot. I wish the stupid policemen hadn't stopped by and kept Betty from going after Henry...I wish that the opposite of everything in the episode happened.

3. Shawn and Jules kiss...or go on a date either one [Psych]: Omg, this one is inspired by tonight's episode...in case you wanted to know and don't follow Psych. I am in love with the pairing now. I seriously almost swooned at the end there. And that's saying something, really.

4. Jules becomes insanely jealous of Shawn getting a girlfriend and they get together in the end, with smashing, breathless kisses intiated by O'hara [Psych]: Again, another fangirl dream of mine inspired by tonight's episode...I really wish it could happen though. I don't know why, but tonight's episode was so brilliant. It really left me wanting more...it wasn't what I expected, just really sweet.

5. Lassiter finds out the truth about Shawn being a fake pysch [Psych]: I just think this would be interesting, although maybe something horrible will happen, then in that case I don't want to see it happen. I'm just curious as to how it'd play out. There will probably be drama and comedy...maybe some pop cultural references that I won't totally get. XD

Of course, these are just things off the top of my head...give me a week to ponder over it and I could probably come up with more. But better to leave it at five. ^^
